Feedback for OOTP on the BAL Missions + Suggestion
Overall, I'm enjoying this year's BAL missions a lot.
The silvers have a couple solid cards, and the golds have a couple top-end tourney cards - and I was happy with that. The diamonds, however, were a little lackluster on the ratings. There's a few playable cards, but the RP were really weak compared to last year, and there aren't any studs compared to the previous releases. The reason I bring this to your attention: the Perfect BALs need to be really good. There's only 12 this year (compared to 2.5 time that many last year) and it is obviously very expensive to build these - it will be a huge let down if these Perfects aren't fire. Please don't let us down. The Edgar Martinez topper was a great surprise - excellent work on that, OOTP team. Fantastic! Really adds value to the collections and brings me to a suggestion that I would like you to consider: While I assume there are plans for a Perfect topper, I'll include that here: It's perfect that you used a DH as the topper, which is the last position in Building-A-Lineup - you should keep that theme. The perfect 100 topper should be a DH David Ortiz that cracks. Greatest DH of all-time, Edgar is second greatest. Now, what would be really cool: when you release the Perfects, also release a topper for the Bronze and Silver missions to finish it out. This would build a lot more incentive for new players or players who haven't gotten far yet to complete them all and go for it, especially if the toppers are elite for their level (like the Edgar) For silver missions: Gold DH Paul Molitor reward For bronze missions: Silver DH Nelson Cruz, DH Dave Parker or DH Don Baylor reward This would be easy to do on your end, add a lot of value to the collections, and be very cool for us. That's it. That's the feedback and suggestion. Thanks for reading! |

Martinez tops Ortiz in career WAR, wRC+, AVG, OBP, OPS, defensive value, and peak single season WAR and wRC+.
Ortiz has Martinez beat in postseason heroics (though Martinez is no slouch there either), slugging, games played, Edgar Martinez awards, and positive drug tests. I'm not sure how one concludes that he's the greatest DH of all time. |

So I'm a Team Edgar guy - that's where my bias is. But let's be clear; the DH award was renamed in 2004, after Edgar won it 5 times. It's not like he inspired the award. And then David Ortiz won it 8 times. The WAR argument is fair - but Ortiz had 517 HR and 632 doubles compared to Edgar's 309 and 518. That's big. Overall, you could take either/or. But for my suggestion, you can only have 100 overall Ortiz, obviously, since 99 Edgar is already in the game. |
