Players Importing With Stats

I've been working on getting a game going with fictional teams and real players for YEARS, but always run into an issue. I thought I finally had it figured out, but no...

Why are players importing with stats?

I created draft classes for 1884 (one using minor league database) and one using the master (excluding all duplicates). I saved them as .txt files and the import works fine, EXCEPT, some players import with stats! No matter what I do this seems to happen. It's not every player, only some. I am NOT checking off the box that says to keep their statistics in, and I am importing them on their debut year.

Why is this happening!!! Any ideas? I've been trying to get past this issue for years, but I can't seem to stop it no matter what I do.

Throw me an example player and I'll see if I get the same result. Sounds like a familiar issue so maybe something will come to mind quickly testing a few 1884 imports.

Maybe this is different but it sounds similar the problem with the regular historical game.
For example, if you start a historical game in 1901 you obviously have players that played that season. The problem is with players that played in the majors prior to 1901 but missed the 1901 season such as Jimmy Ryan, Dan Brouthers and a few others. These players will show up in the following debut draft for the years they played but their OOTP stats instead of showing up as zero will show their real life stats. So if you look at the leader board in 1904 or so, Jimmy Ryan, Dan Brothers will show up with about 10 years of stats while most players show up with stats from 1901 or later. It is my understanding it is much more of a problem if you start a historical game in the middle of the war years like 1943.
David Watts has complained about this for years..

Fred Corey and Dick Burns are two examples.

I'm now thinking it may be because they debuted in the Majors before the minors.

If there's a way to just make sure they don't import with stats it would solve my issue.

Otherwise, I'm going to have to cross-check every player in my edited MiLB database with the Major League one and select the version of each player with the earlier debut date, which will take...a long time.

I don't think i have had this issue with rookies, only veterans. Eventually i started making leagues out of this feature/bug.
