This universe has a whole different take on the Mendoza line
Actually, now that I think about, he’s the same kind of outlier Ruth was, just in a different era. Last edited by OmahaReynolds; 06-30-2022 at 10:06 PM. |

That league average is really high, which could mean the player production ratings are off the charts, pitching is trash or something else. I've run a lot of sims without interference without any issues, it's the same core game even with the changes and I'm not convinced that they've done anything under the hood that would produce some wild variance.
OOTP being so customizable is its bigger strength, but for people looking for a more traditional experience, it's not clear how making particular tweaks to things like players, ratings, league modifiers or whatever else can product wacky results. I've played 1000s of sims over the years and have witnessed it, even as I have a decent handle on how the game works. I don't think it merits some tribunal, just further tweaking or playing Challenge Mode where you have no control and can play the game in a lab environment they designed for it. |

But when creating the universe you can still go into advance mode and change mostly anything else. For instance you can change the PCM to whatever you want for any league even MLB. You can still mess with random generated free agents. So you can still make supermen. You want cyborg batters and weak child pitchers you can do that still. Challenge mode was some bs created so users could post points against each other on the forums. It's not a difficulty slider. It's not a real iron mode like paradox modes. It's not as advanced as say battle tech and other games that just prorate the player based upon settings selected so comparisons can still be done even with vastly different settings. Plus challenge mode you are screwed if anything happens. Bad patch. You forget a setting at universe creation. You can never go back and fix it. Challenge mode isn't some sort of standard or lab setting. It freezes a couple customization options but most can be modified during creation. |

I used it once this version to test my Random league before I played it for real. I fast simmed for 40 years. The first 4 years the stats looked good. After that, the batting average looked pretty close to the base year but HR totals started getting off and the stolen base totals REALY got off. After 40 years the SB totals were less than half the original year.

Hey, it's your choice. All I know is that I'll be sticking with OOTP23.
