Should I Get 23 On Steam Or Epic?

Never heard of Epic, what is it? Is there an advantage which one I get it from? I had 11-22 from the OOPT store.

How buggy is 23 these days? I know another patch came out but I have only payed some attention to the various issues.

If you're going to buy it I'd personally recommend Steam. That way if they discontinue it like they have the previous versions you still have a download link easily handy.

Epic is the developer of Fortnite and has been using the cash from that to create exclusives in their store and offer some games for free. Given a choice between the two I would choose Steam.Epic’s competition with Steam has helped some of the bigger game companies save on commissions.

buy direct from their store. But if you want to buy from a 3rd party, go with whichever you already have games on. If neither, then steam

I'm old school tech and will always choose to buy and install the game directly from the source. Steam is so intrusive and is always updating and running checks. I only buy steam games when I have no other choice.

I prefer Steam for almost all of my games but still buy OOTP direct. On the Twitter/Facebook/Google scale Steam does not seem intrusive to me but I understand others feel differently.

Surprised no one mentioned the Steam Workshop- you can download OOTP mods much, much easier with Steam. I have been loyal to Markus with direct, but will likely buy the Steam version just to have my fictional league stuff available all in one place.

I bought it on steam because that's where most of my pc games are now but does ootp 23 have much of a workshop going? I have to looked in a while but the last time I checked it out, there was only 4 things and 2 of them were skins.

IMHO direct from OOTP is better than Steam for workshop/mods. Steam has very few addons as of now, so I had to manually use the mods anyway. To use the mods from the forum, download the zip file, unzip, and copy to the proper folder.

Steam is better only for automatic updates.

I know how to use the mods, I've been here since the first game rolled out but I was curious on how much they have there now.

Steam is excellent as a central library for my games. I far prefer it to Origin, Epic, or any other software.

I bought the 23 FHM 8 bundle for $27 on Steam. Downloading 23 now. I honestly didn't even see the option to buy direct til others mentioned it. I probably would have done that had i logged into this thread earlier. Since i am back on my PC i have a good amount of space on my C:. My x drive D: has almost 350 GB but my OOTP directories are a bit messed up. I still have directories for 19-22. I no longer have 19-21 loaded though.

on Steam? Up to 6 now, including stadiums and facegen. Plus all forum mods still work with steam versions.

The breakdown seems pretty clear to me. If you play a number of other games, Steam (or I suppose Epic) do the work behind the scenes and save you the worry. Get that. As an Apple guy, so much easier to roam seamlessly through my Mac to my Ipad to Apple TV and my phone, not having to worry about passwords or updates. But since I only really care about OOTP, I prefer to buy direct, and keep up on patches and fixes through these boards. To each his or her own, I guess.

i like steam - the auto updates are nice. also it seems (to me at least) , the updates aren't quite as large as the stand-alone version which i used for six or so years. Haven't had any issues with Steam in the four years been using it.

Yeah, Steam only updates the files that changed while Fast Springs is the whole newest install package. It's why Steam doesn't overwrite all of your mods when it updates. Unless of course those particular files were updated in the patch.
