Rookie Looking for League

Well I've finally decided to step to the plate with the big boys and I'm searching for a league. I've played OOTP for about a year now on my own and I want to step to the next level. I see there are lots of good looking leagues looking for owners but I'd need a patient one with this being my first go at an on-line league. By no means am I "slow" or anything but I know there will be some learning to do. Here's a brief run down of some of my experience:

-I'm in a fantasy football league where weekly press releases are required (I see some leagues go with this idea, which I like.)
-Still play in a Strat-o-Matic baseball face to face league so strategy and concept or the game of baseball itself is no problem. Drafting and trades are common in both games.
-The few fantasy leagues I'm in, I've been in for years.

Mostly my challenges will be with how to import/export files and what needs to be sent to who. Simple stuff to start I'm sure. Anyway if you've got an opening in a challenging, realistic league and are willing to give a little extra time to me in the begining please drop me a line or reply here.

Thanks in advance-
Dustin Dennis

Check http://www.hitforthecycle.com/forum/index.php.

It's a new league just 2 weeks into its first season. Lots of the GM's are first-timers (me included), but so far it is very active and good fun. Website is currently in development as the commish (rightly) concentrated on the league itself first, so don't be put off by the OOTP-default website.

There was a vacancy open a couple of hours ago, not sure if it's filled yet or not:

Tampa Bay; after 13 games leading the AL East, with Aubrey Huff leading most batting categories. All TB's young stars are still there, also have 1st pick in draft (2nd round awaiting new TB Owner).

Check out my league in my signature below (Green Monsta). I believe we are a very user friendly league and welcome new players often. The Washington Federals team is available immediately.

Email if interested.

D² to answer some of your questions:

Most leagues don’t require press releases, though some do. If you write about your team, that adds to the league and everyone appreciates it, especially the commissioner.

Some leagues last for years, others fold. Try to familiarize yourself with a league before you join it.

Match the characteristics of your online league selection to the style of league you like best. Important considerations are whether the team uses real or fictional players, on real or fictional teams; and whether the league uses finances (free agency).

Play where the Wildthings Play

DD:

First off....Satchel makes valid points.
Second ....Welcome to the WWW of OOTP baseball you'll love it

Third...Wildthing Basball - Come Play It !

We are a combo league - real players, but in a time warp.
Random Rookie Debuts (thru editied DB), 3 sims a week, Salary Cap, BOSI (u'll figure it out), great mix of newer owners and experienced ones....
not alot of high level pressure - 16 teams - a good number.

personally i find that leagues with much more than 16 teams becomes abit of a cloud - too many owners and teams cant keep up - but i'm old and try to stay sedated most of the time

check us out at above link - please ask questions etc for more info - u can contact me thru the link on Home page all links there are vialble and working.

another thought is that you read the bulletin boards about leagues/commish's, etc ...theres alot of info there to help ya...
