A Request For An "Edit-Log" From the Community of Online League Commissioners

First of all, thank you to the developers for adding the "limited commissioner" feature in OOTP23, which is a great step forward to assisting online league commissioners.

While this feature is helpful in many ways, it does still fall short of providing the sort of assurance to online league players (about the integrity of their league) that commissioners have long requested.

Please consider adding an "edit-log" for online leagues which would permanently record any changes made by the commissioner in edit screens for players and teams.

Commissioners of online leagues work hard to create great gameplay experiences for the OOTP community! Please consider making this long-requested feature a priority for the next version of the game. Our enjoyment of online play can sometimes depend on being able to assure members of our leagues that any good or bad luck is just that -- luck!

This has long been a request, I don't think it's realistic. Mostly because what changes would it log? The file would be massive and significantly increase the size of already large files. There's absolutely no way this would be implemented well, as there's no consensus.

If you can't trust your commish or suspect foul play, they ought to quit.

Like It but is It Doable?

This may not be easy to do in the file, although having it would be a nice add on if its something quick, small, and easy. Agree with you on that if you feel a commish is doing things like that just leave the league, some people just like it as a piece of mind and that is why I believe some people want this feature.

IMO if can do it great, if cannot fine also. Try a d find a good league with a trustworthy commish.

I think an edit-log would be a great idea to help establish trust in online league commissioners, as we are pretty limited in what we can do to instill trust, (short of personally knowing people we're in a league with). I have done nothing wrong in my league, and yet when the team I control performs well, I am occasionally directly or indirectly accused of cheating with no evidence to support the claim.

I don't think darkcloud4579 realizes that if there is an edit-log that highlights modifications to player ratings, that would disincentivize a rogue commissioner from acting out in the first place, thereby keeping the log fairly brief (and perhaps ideally, blank?). Additionally, it is hard to imagine a text log adding significantly to the league's file size.

Nice feature for transparency

It is a shame that this is something needed for leagues, but anything that can bring calm to our hobbies would be appreciated. A key to this would be to make the log accessible but not editable. Though, I am sure, some savvy folks could figure out a hack no matter the approach.

This would be a FANTASTIC addition. Once a cloud is cast on a commissioner, even if unwarranted, is something that can take years to get out from under.

Most honest commissioners/leagues would welcome this.

It would also open up the recruitment pool for those who do not join leagues where the commissioner runs a team.

As for file size, I'd trade 1K for peace of mind....

The only stuff people would care about are the things used to cheat. So editing players is the main one.. Whether or not someone is trusted has a lot more to do with their personality than their actions. People are bad judges of character. I've had clean commishes who were dicks and dirty ones who no one suspected till it happened.

It heavily depends on how they coded certain aspects of the game but in theory it shouldn't be all that difficult. There are less important changes they've made that took longer imo.

If people think their Commish is dishonest, they should quit. OOTP leagues could be designed different to prevent this from even being possible in instances where Commissioners are also playing in the league.

It would simply log changes made in the editor. If the commish is not making changes, then it's a very short file...

I completely disagree with you about, "If you can't trust your commish or suspect foul play, they ought to quit". How does one trust any commish? I suppose if you're in a league with a commish for years then you could trust them. But you are asking for complete blind trust. There must be checks and balances. An edit log does that.
