OOTP Steam Announcement

This announcement went up last week:

Hello everyone! This is to let you know that starting soon, Out of the Park Baseball 22 (and all previous editions of Out of the Park Baseball) will no longer be available for purchase. We have made this difficult decision because the back-end provider of our live services will no longer support us, so we are not able to continue offering them for sale for new users.

If you have already purchased OOTP 22 (and/or previous versions of OOTP) then you will be able to continue to download them via your Steam library. This will only impact new purchases.

Thank you for your support!

- Out of the Park Developments

Is this ONLY for Steam, or for FastSpring purchases as well?

How will it effect Online leagues?

Are users losing the ability to buy a previous version of this game simply because of PT?

Can we expect this to be a new practice for the Franchise? Will OOTP23 not be available once 24 goes on sale next year?

Some sort of comment or expounding on it here would be great for us users. THANKS!

These have already been pulled from Fastspring

How will it effect Online leagues?

No reason this would impact online leagues short of the ability of prospective new members not being able to purchase the older version of the game a league may use. May put pressure for leagues wanting to recruit to move to the most recent version if they have not.

I know you are waiting on a developer response, but felt it was worth answering the easy ones.

One other thought that I had along with this:

With the games being pulled from STEAM does that mean that the Workshop downloads will be unavailable?

It's not being pulled from Steam, just no longer for sale. First post notes

So the game file will be available. I see no reason they would take down the workshop page as long as that is the case.

I can verify that I have access to steam workshop pages for versions that had previously pulled such as version 17. I do not believe Workshop was a thing prior to that version... but my Steam Pages for ver 9 and 16 continue to work. The 3 I listed are no longer offered for sale... so unless they do something beyond just pulling them from... all Steam content should continue to be available if you have purchased it.

This is disappointing news, specially just weeks before the Steam summer sale.

ootp 22

I bought 22 when it first came out. Bough a new computer and lost my license number. Can't even get that! Welcome to big corporate America.
Moral of the story: If you bought 23 and want to buy 24, be sure to keep 23 on file..

If you purchased through steam there shouldn’t be an issue I don’t think

Or instead of jumping to conclusions you could ask OOTP support if there is still a way to d'load and play your old versions. Who knows what you might find out?

Post OOTP 22 in the stores
Hello everyone!

This is to let you know that starting soon, Out of the Park Baseball 22 (and all previous editions of Out of the Park Baseball) will no longer be available for purchase.

We have made this decision because the back-end provider of our live services will no longer support us, so we are not able to continue offering them for sale for new users.

If you have already purchased OOTP 22 (and/or previous versions of OOTP) on Steam then you will be able to continue to download them via your Steam library. This will only impact new purchases.

If you bought in our webstore or in other stores, the situation is the same, you will still be able to use the game as usual and find the download links on our website here: https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ootp-prior-version

Cheers,
Markus
