and to sweeten the pot....Who is the one player you Love-to-Hate????
Me...I always find myself always acquiring Phil Nevin and Billy Wagner, even though they arent necessarily my favorite players.... And I always love to hate Orlando "El Dookie" Hernandez (or any other Yankee for that matter)

In OOTP3, I don't think Scott Rolen ever played for any teams but the Phillies, Yankees or Giants, Phillies would either resign or I would, and if I didn't (due to a trade in the season, or something else) he'd wind up a Yankee for Life.

For some reason, I always go for Rafeal Furcal. He's a A at SS and can steal any base, at any given moment. I don't like the Braves, but I love speed and good fielding.

Definately Ichiro. To bad I just let him go to Free Agency in 2013. He had like a Fair in Batting Average! Bah!
The guy I love to hate has to be David Justice just because he's my brother's favorite player. Mwhahaha. Chris

I will not have a brave on my mets roster. EXPECIALLY LARRY (what kind of grown man calls himself "Chipper")
I always try and land Drew Henson from NYY even though I'm still mad at him for screwing the Blue. During the offseason bidding, I look for players who favor the Braves and bid on them, no matter if I need them or not. Nothing better than screwing them. |

I gotta keep Addie Joss on my Indians team set in 1903...he's tearing up the league in ERA but getting no run support and only a 4-4 record right now.

Mike Piazza...#1 my favorite player, #2 to see what numbers he retires with at C and compare them to the greats
Can't stand Larry Chipper Jones...wish there was a bean choice rather than pitch around

WHAT'S WITH THE CHIPPER HATE?!
I *HATE* the Braves as much as anyone, but c'mon, this guy rules. It's so funny to call him Larry Jones, since I always call him Larry Wayne Jones if I'm not calling him Chipper. "A chopper to Chipper!" |

As for the player I "love to hate", it's gotta be Mike Piazza.
I liked him for 2 weeks, when he played for the Marlins. But he's played for the Dodgers and Mets mostly, that's like, sacrilidge. |

I'll jump on the anti-Chipper bandwagon.
I can't stand that guy. I find myself usually looking to acquire a number 1 pitcher when I first start a season in OOTP. Typically Pedro or Tim Hudson or someone with comparable numbers.

Speaking of 'Chipper' he just hit the heck out of me going 9-13 with 2 homers in a 3 game series.
Yes, I dislike him! Todd |

It's not a specific player, but I always take starting pitchers with my first five picks when drafting. Then I draft a solid defense and guys who hit for a high average and have good baserunning skills. I'm all'bout manufacturing runs.
Since I mainly play fictional leagues, I don't hate anyone right away...

I can't say I have any "must haves" but I can tell you I won't allow any Giants on my roster! One of the good things about Baseball Maelstrom is you have one legend from your team's past on your roster. The Dodgers have Sandy Koufax and believe you me, he will help keep the Dodger/Giants rivalry alive.

I don't what it is, but when I was a kid, I always had a strong disdain of Jack Clark.

Good topic. I never had a player that I "must" have on my team, and I also never had a player that I would refuse to place on my team. I look for talent and try to make my team a championship contender year in and year out. Even with that, I do notice a few people who always land on my teams:
John Rocker, Mike Stanton, Rondell White, and Jay Payton have a talent for ending up on my teams. Although Payton is just in my solo league and my FAST team right now. The others will lead my team (and former team) to the playoffs this year.

my favorite player is Todd Helton...he's lefthanded, wears number 17, and plays the infield, gotta love that! plus he's a great hitter.
BUT i always have to have Freddy Garcia on my team someway or another. I remember when he was a rookie and nobody cared, i picked him up in my fantasy baseball league in sandbox.com and he did great for me. he was also on my fantasy team last year. great kid. there really isnt a player i wouldnt have on my team BUT i really dislike Ken Griffey Jr. I dont like his attitude and that suave-like persona he plays. he's a good ball player but he needs to change. |

Not that I know anything, but I always focus on walks and power when going after players...Old Players Skills. I barely even look at speed and defense...I'm not sure, but it seems to me that defense means more if to actually watch the games, rather then just sim them. Probably not, though...
