I just updated to the 23.3.63 Beta this morning. Haven't played at all with yet though.

The bulk of my crashes occurred on 23.3.61. I don't recall if I had any crashes prior to .61. If I did, it was so rare that it wasn't worth me remembering. When I was running .61 the crashes sure seemed to become way more frequent.

I'll continue running debug with .63 beta installed in efforts to get a crash. If you don't hear from me, assume that is good news haha. If/when I get another crash I'll send the trace over.

We fixed a bug related to Facegen in the recent update, but it was mainly a problem when Facegen was disabled. Not sure if the fix also solves your issue.

I still can't reproduce it. Have played several games out until the end, changed pitches, other players, new pictures where created, but no crash.

Is there anything else that might help to trigger the bug that you've noticed? Something like it happens for certain player/team/day time, when you click on something, etc.
Does is still occur with disabled Facegen?

Were you using image files or just facegen? Myself and RaiderMike both are using image files with FaceGen still enabled.

What I'm going to say here might not have any basis at all, but it's the way things seem to operate when I play the game..... When I start a game the players in the starting lineups all seem to have their image files loaded from already being shown on the screen where you set lineups prior to starting the game. When the computer brings in a substitute player, there is always a small little delay where I temporarily see that spinning blue "loading" circle for a second or so. This only happens when the computer brings in a substitute player, so my assumption is that this small loading time happens because it's searching for and accessing the photo file (again, I might be wrong). If the crash is going to occur, THIS is always where it occurs. Once that substitute player is in the game, then everything is fine with that player for the remainder of the game. It's just when the guy first comes into the game that you get that blue spinning circle for 1 second and then the potential crash.

Whenever I bring in a sub player, I do so from the lineup screen so I am able to bring in relief pitchers and pinch hitters without problem. But when the computer does this in the middle of the inning and in the middle of the gameplay screen - this is where it potentially crashes. Based on the way this scenario always plays out, it really truly seems like when it tries to access the image file of a new player mid-game it seems like there is a little hiccup for one reason or another..... Could it be that it is trying to access the image file AND create a facegen at the same time?

so if you aren't using image files you may not be able to duplicate it.

One additional piece of info now that I think about it..... it seems like the player coming into the game when the problem happens is normally a crappy player. Meaning he might be recently called up from the minor leagues or something and that would mean I may have only added in his image file recently. Whenever I do add in an image file, I always delete the facegen for that player out of my saved gamefolder and then reboot OOTP since that is what I was instructed to do years ago and it always worked fine without problems. But could there be a scenario where if I added a players image file and deleted his facegen file just before playing that given game that maybe the old facegen is sitting in some cache or something and conflicting with the image file? I could be wayyyy off with what I just said, but it does always seem to be obscure players coming in as relief pitchers that have triggered the crash for me. Maybe coincidence? But trying to provide as much info here as possible.

Just had a crash. This is on the brand new .64 update.

Typical scenario of computer bringing in relief pitcher. I paid close attention to this and I know for 100% fact that the pitcher they brought in had a FaceGen prior to me playing the game. When I saw that he had a facegen, prior to starting the game I completely closed out OOTP. I then found an image file for the player. I then went to the Data --> Photos folder and added the image file while OOTP was still closed out. I then went to Saved Games --> News --> HTML --> Images --> Profile Pictures and also Person Pictures and deleted the FaceGen for said player from both of those folders. I then started OOTP back up. I then played the game and when the player in question came in as a relief pitcher his image file that I added did load but the game crashed.

I've been doing that above scenario for years with OOTP. Never been an issue in the past. I wouldn't have been smart enough to figure out that process on my own, so one of the other forum members gave me those steps years back. Might have even been a developer. Regardless though, that process was smooth as butter for me for years. This year it's been a train wreck though.

I do have a trace file. Problem is though that I'm an idiot and don't know how to send it. I tried to private message you, but nowhere in the PM screen do I see anywhere to attach the .TXT file? What's the best way for me to send this thing?

That's a really good instruction how to reproduce it, thanks.
We have a national holiday here today, I will test it out tomorrow and hopefully can fix it directly.

Yes, that process is how you should do it. Delete the existing Facegen files and copy a photo to the photo folder, so the game can find and use it. Don't know why there is this new bug now, I'll see.

You can attach the txt file here in this thread. Do to so click on "Go Advanced" below the quick reply message box. There you can add attachments to your post.

Yes, the short delay comes from the game searching for a person/profile picture and create a Facegen one, in case it doen't find one.

The search and the creation are done one after another, but there might be some new bug that leads to the crash.

So far I've tried to reproduce the issue without photos from the photos folder. If there is the bug when loading those, that would explain why I could not replicate it yet. I will try with them as you described in the other post.

The more information you can provide us, the better, thanks. Without knowing how to reproduce the bug it's very hard to find and fix it

Good news, everyone!

I found the bug. Yes, it has to do with when using real photos, thanks for helping finding it.

I added a fix to prevent the game to crash. It will be in the next patch, that will come out next week.

So long you can disable Facegen in the Settings. It should also prevent the crash, but players without real photos will have no pictures. When the update is out, you can enable Facegen again.

Great. Happy to hear that. I was planning on trying to disable FaceGen anyway this weekend, just in hopes of being able to play the game. So that sounds good to me, and I'll be on the lookout for the next update. Thanks for being on top of this the way you were.

The game crashes every time I click "Modify Colors & Uniforms" from the dropdown menu, or the "Modify Team Colors, Logos, and Textures" button on a team's Settings tab. Any suggestions? I first noticed this a few weeks ago.

Which version are you playing? We fixed 2 bugs from similar crashes recently. Both are in ver. 23.3.64. Do you play with disabled FaceGen? Both bugs occured in such cases.

You don't see the OOTP 23 window at all? Maybe it's just minimized. Do you see an OOTP icon poping up in your task bar when starting the game?

Does a reinstall help?

To trace down the problem we would need a trace file. Usually you can activate it in the main setting of the game: https://support.ootpdevelopments.com...debug-log-file

But if you don't see any window you can activate that option from Steam, right click on the game -> Properties -> General, then add "tracemode" to the Launch Options and start the game.
A text file should be created in ...<GameInstallationFolder>/data/debug named ootp_trace_...txt

Please send us this file, if the window doesn't show up, so we can take a look what's wrong.

I believe I'm using 23.4.64, and I have FaceGen enabled. I've included a screenshot below of the front screen.

Actually, I thought I had FaceGen enabled. I started a new game today as a Test, and under "Game Settings -> Players & FaceGen -> Player FaceGen Pictures," it says "None." I'm not sure how to change that default.

So I switched it to "Major League Players Only" and clicked "Update/Generate All Player Pictures." Once that was done, I went to "Modify Colors & Uniforms" and it still crashed.

Right, your version is 23.4.64 and FaceGen is enabled.
So to find the bug we'll need more info.

What game are you playing when the crash happens? Local MLB or historical or fictonal? Or PT?

Can you try to open the Uniform window in another game, e.g. if it crashes in PT try local game?

Has it never worked, or did is stop working at some point?

Please create a trace file when the crash happens and send it to us https://support.ootpdevelopments.com...debug-log-file

I've only tried on a "Standard Game." I haven't played Perfect Team at all.

I first noticed it a couple weeks ago, figured it would be fixed in a patch, but so it's still going.

I made a crash report and submitted it.

Ok, unfortunately there is nothing odd in your trace file when the crash occured.

I tried what you've said: start a new standard game, change facegen setting to "Major league players only", update/generate all players pictures, open uniforms screen. No crash on my machine so far.

Might be that something went wrong during the installation. Can you try to reinstall the game?

But first try to disable Facegen in the Settings (not Game Settings) and open the uniforms screen. This way there will be no preview player and we can exclude issues due to e.g. OpenGL.

Have you tried to play a 3D game? Does it work without a crash?

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and now it works. So I guess that's all it needed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hi, I seem to have had this issue ever since like OOTP 18.

I have noticed that while running any sim for a prolonged period of time, performance begins to slowly degrade and mouse movements, sim times, button clicks and menus all start to become slower and slower.

The remedy is always to restart, but I was wondering if there was a reason as to why this performance degradation occurs.

I have a beefy computer: i7-4700k, 32 GB of RAM, 3080Ti and OOTP is the only game where running it for long periods of time causes this issue.

I would suspect that it has to do with locally-cached files, and it just running rampant with over-use, but I wouldn't know why.
