A Preemptive Question on setting up a fictional league.

So, I thought I would try something different this year. I want to go with the MLB cities and teams, but fictional players/staff. Start in year 2000 (or 2002) and build up 20 years of history and then take over a team in the current 2022 season.

I have never done anything like this before but figured that it would help eliminate some of my preconceived notions and attachments to current players.

But since I have never done this before I am not sure how to go about all of this. I am about to jump into 23 for the first time and try and figure it out but any tips or guidance would be appreciated.

EDIT: Okay the wizard walked me through the creation part fairly well. I assume I make myself not employed for the first 20 years as I sim some history? Then the question becomes, can I assign myself to any team in 2022?

Turn on commissioner mode and you can do whatever you want... then turn it back off. Its all in the settings and strategic back ups. Theres a learning curve just keep messing with it. (someone else will probably have a better answer).
