Any great fictional quickstart out there?

Hey guys! I love to play fictional baseball with ootp and would like to know if you have a great qucikstart that I can download here to start a career? There is not much quickstart in the Mod section... Thanks!

What kind of thing are you looking for? The space for fictional baseball worlds is functionally infinite.

Like, I've got a tiny little 4-team HS league full of kids from 11-20 set in 1893. That's not going to be to everybody's taste.

A lot of people put the effort into making a Quickstart unprompted for whatever reason. You might have better luck seeking out interesting fictional leagues that people are actually playing and asking them to create and post a Quickstart. It's not a difficult thing to do and I think most would be happy to do it.

I have a fairly generic fictional leagues with unis, logos and simmed 20 years in the future with stats deleted for players. Starts in 2020. Can-Am baseball league. 8 Canadian, 8 American with 5 levels of minors

I have always been surpised at the lack of quick starts.....it can take hours to set things up the way you want.....tweaking ratings and such.......i would think people would love to show off and share!

Not sure how it would import to 23 (you'd at least need 22 to load the league file and update it), but it worked well in 22. It's a mix of real and fictional set in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Yeah, shameless self-promotion time.

I tried to put it up onto steam but nothing ever seems to go up and I'm not sure how to gwt it to work.

Like I said, mine is pretty generic.

You'd think, but over the years I've had a hard time getting quickstarts to work right or be saved at the right point (I think you need to work carefully from backups to test it), and I've gtten frustrated with crashes when saving or testing.

It is more a matter of not thinking to prepare a template for sharing a quickstart. As I (and others) have pointed out for about 10 years now, if you are making a fictional league, you need to be saving it to a template after each major action. And then when you have run some tests to make sure things work as you like, go back to that last template and start for real. It is that template that can be used to start as many times as you lie, or shared with others.

I will be choosing one from three ideas I've used ove the years:

1. A 16 team league in Virginia that starts in 1946 and rules forward.
2, a 32 team New Model Major League Baseball that also starts in 1946 and is based on absorbing the PCL and other expansion cities, while mostly adding to the original 16 teams.
3.An eight, expanding to 16 team Italian League starting in 1946 that starts with 50% Italian and 50% Allied armies players (including Brazil, which had a division there). The draft lists then become largely Italian and regional countries.

I'm waiting for the MLB starts to get boring for me, then I'll dive into one.

Yes, there absolutely needs to be more quickstarts. Negro leagues, with b/w photos, for starters. "no financial" leagues.

Tex & I created a NeL rebrand for OOTP 21. I have it or 22. Has many NNL stars, edited.

Great is a bit of a stretch, but linked below is my go to QS - I fire this one up as a jumpoff point for 95% of my new fictional saves. It's a combination of a lot of different things I've found on this forum over the years... the vast, vast majority (99.99%) of kits, logos, caps are not mine, just stuff I took a shine to that the modders and gfx folks here were kind enough to share... the set-up is a smaller, bastardized version of Stealofhome's Fictional Feeder Leagues and MLB Extravaganza which really opened up my eyes to what this game could do when I found it on the boards... just super high level stuff he put out. The version I'm sharing below is pared way, way, way down with updated teams, etc... I just started with the stuff he shared and edited it to my liking over the years. Anyway, give it a try... I've had lots of fun with it.

S-Verse1930
24-team MLB, 2SL, 2D, 6T each (162 games)
3 Levels of Minor Leagues
90+ Team NCAA Feeder
12-team Bush League to give the scrubs something to do...

15% of the players coming into my feeder are international so I turn all of the international amatuers off except for discoveries. Stats output is set to '86, forever - YMMV. I have got a lot of enjoyment playing this one over the years. Note: the attached is for 23, and it starts on January 1st 1930 with all previous history purged.

That's great to hear! Hope you enjoy it... I'm looking at changing the playoff structure in the save I'm running using this QS to only the Division winners making it to the postseason.

It sounds like you've unzipped the file and placed 'S-Verse1930.quick' into the 'OOTP 23 > quickstart_games' folder. If correct, all you should need to do now is engage 'New QuickstartGame' from the OOTP 23 Start Screen, select 'S-Verse1930', name is something cool, and off you go!
