OOTP on Chromebook
Know this has probably been covered elsewhere but the answers I find are disjointed and confusing.
Is there a way to run OOTP on a Chromebook for the average human? Everything I see talks about needing to engage developer mode and running Linux, just way more intricate than I want to be. I've used OOTP on laptops for a few years and really enjoy it, but as the world moves to more mobile I've made the swap to Chromebook. Hate to leave OOTP behind, but at this point it is literally the only reason I touch a traditional laptop and with that computer beginning the throes of death, OOTP just isn't worth enough to me to justify the expense of purchasing a new laptop. Thanks. |

Unfortunately there's no way of running OOTP natively inside ChromeOS without some work.
It's not quite the full OOTP experience but you could run OOTP Go since you can install apps from the Play store fairly easily. https://support.google.com/chromeboo.../7021273?hl=en |

Do they make Bluestacks (Android Emulator) for ChromeOS? I can run OOTP Go in Bluestacks. It isn't bad...

Hi guys,
Yes, you can run the full version OOTP on a Chromebook -- it's not nearly as scary as it sounds, especially once you set it up. I'm typing this post on a Chromebook with OOTP running in the background :-) For the game to work, you will need the Steam version of the game. Right now, Steam is only available on Chromebook if you activate Linux on your Chromebook, but that is super easy to do and is a totally safe environment, as you won't break your Chromebook by activating it. Linux on Chrome OS is just a virtual machine running Linux inside Chrome OS. And ironically, Chrome OS itself is actually a Linux-based operating system, but most people don't even realize it. Chrome OS and Steam are actually partnering on a new project to make gaming on a Chromebook via Steam even more streamlined than it is now and theoretically improving performance, etc. So, if you're interested in going the Chromebook route, you don't necessarily have to say goodbye to OOTP. The only thing I'd recommend is that, if you have the option & means, I'd recommend getting a Chromebook with a core i5 processor to help boost performance, if you like playing in manager mode with the 3D view. It runs OK on my core i3 Chromebook, but the animations are definitely a lot smoother on my core i5 machine. Let me know if you have any specific questions on how to accomplish this. |

Chrome Remote Desktop
A month late on this, sorry.
If you have an extra laptop lying around, you can simply install OOTP on that machine and access it on Chrome Remote Desktop with Chromebook. The lag makes the in-game action almost impossible to watch, but you can still use the old 2D interface. |

So Steam has everything PT23 has? Is there a lag based on internet connection?
