Will a computer controlled team initiate a specific trade request with me?

Yes. And if you happen to have had a few drinks or have a very unreliable mouse, you might even click Accept Trade by mistake as you try to reject trading away Aaron Judge for a couple of AA lifers.

Sure. I have had this happen. Not that often, I must say. I gather that’s a product of trade frequency set to low.

I've made a few trades where I initiated the deal, mainly to get rid of some bad attitudes (even one where the assistant GM said he didn't like it, so I told him to shut up and go sit in a corner), but so far, have not had any offers from other teams. Closest was a player put on the Trading Block, so just thought I'd ask.

Lol! My assistant GM hates 95% of the deals that I negotiate. I just ignore him and make the deals.

The only time the AGM likes deals seems to be if they're (a) super lopsided or (b) you're swapping minor leaguers just to fill org holes like a 3rd AAA catcher for a AAA OF. I don't find AGM Brian Sabean or whoever adds anything to the process.

Don't forget to have your 'Team Focus" set to where you want it or the offers will be a lot less interesting. I have my setting on "Rebuild" no matter how good my team is so that I don't get salary dump type offers as much.

Also, check your setting often. The game resets you to what it wants even if you have changed it to "Rebuild". And it does this at frequent intervals, I've found to my annoyance.

If you click on the “Define Team Needs” button from your Finances tab, you can set up specific needs to encourage trade offers from computer-controlled teams that meet exactly what you’re looking for (say a power hitting third baseman who’s under 32 years old and making less than $7,500,000 a season).
