Am I Missing Something About GO?
The only official word that we have received about GO for PT23 is that it will be coming but there is no timeline. Understanding that there have been bigger fires to put out through the launch, I am having trouble understanding why it does not seem to be a top priority.
PT is depending on having a critical mass of active players to keep the action vibrant and drive revenue. Us core players on PCs represent just a sliver of the potential market. Even for us PC players, with the world coming out of the pandemic (knock on wood) most of us are out and about exponentially more than we have for the last couple of years. It would seem that GO is a critical piece to the health of the game. Is there anyone from the team who can comment on this and provide some idea of the timeline for us to have mobile access?

Seems like they are painfully aware of this
I just checked on PT22 - there are 50,000 teams. PT23 has 6300.

I’ve seen that as well. All the more reason that the game needs GO.

Between the lame ending to PT22, the delay in launch, the disasters during launch, and the fact the game is still missing key features, such as Go, it's not surprising to me at all that a lot of people have checked out.

There was something like 18000 teams going into week 2 of perfect team last year, compared to 6300 this year. I wonder where everyone has gone.

I sure appreciate the push notifications multiple times daily to purchase OOTP 23 after I've already purchased it, being pushed from the mobile app that ISN'T launched yet.

There is no GO because it benefits the ftp player, who is able to enter more tournaments and create a viable pack stream. They don’t want that. They want you to spend $ for packs. It’s as simple as that

In general, people are more weary about spending money on a product that launches and seem unstable. They may have moved to greener pastures, or are waiting to make sure the game is stable before shelling out their hard earned money.

I don’t think that is a driver. The mobile market is much larger than the PC market. Yes, it does help us F2P players who are also on PC, but that is a small market compared to what they are missing out on by being bound to PCs only.

4. The change in server provider and resulting inability to use teams registered under multiple licenses has shrunk the # of teams belonging to the existing player base. 3. Dissatisfaction with happenings during the PT 22 cycle caused players to walk away from PT. 2. Dissatisfaction with happenings during the PT 23 launch caused players to delay purchase and / or walk away. 1. No OOTP 23 Go means mobile-only players have no point of entry. These players will never buy the PC version, thus they are locked out. OOTP (or, more accurately, Com2US) wants OOTP Go up and running orders of magnitude more than they care about the PC version being live. The drive to destroy F2P is real, but it's a parallel track.

I thought the only issue was to credit the purchases you made with the original OOTPGO? And adding the commish mode.

I could be wrong but as I noted previously, I am quite sure that the significantly larger population of potential mobile users far outweighs trying to squeeze dollars out of a much smaller PC audience.

The Professor has it right. Imagine (if you will) a GO app that ONLY has Perfect Team on it - no classic game. This imaginary app has all the bells and whistles including automatic "buy" options for cards, packs, etc.
There are over 1 BILLION tablet owners world-wide and those tablet owners have access to the internet 24/7. If I had to guess, PT will end up on tablets and the classic game will be on PCs. |

Hardly. Here is the week by week team count from PT22. Go was released in game year 2033.

How do you get a negative in 2053? What season was July 4th sale? Off season sale? This is showing a slight jump with OOTPGO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Key is that last year the number of teams in the early weeks showed only incremental increases until GO was released, after which point you saw stronger and sustained growth in the number.
I think that while the issues around the launch have had an impact on the number of active teams, the most significant difference from last year is that we are largely back out in the world. Last spring we were still much more home bound than we are now and therefore near our PCs last spring. As we regain our mobility, the need for GO is accentuated.

Ok. Glad you have the week to week numbers. Although the 6-to-50 comparison was obviously wrong, we are still looking at about 6300 compared to "maybe" 9k in the second week? A small but noticeable slowdown. The Professor also has a good point that we're not as home-bound as we were last year, so GO would be much more helpful in v23. |

to the Professor's point, I am personally waiting for OOTPGO23 before joining. But I am also seeing a lot of issues and am disappointed that the playoffs were not updated to 2022 rules. I wonder how this new playoff would affect PT, but right now, same old same old.
