I started an Historical League in OOTP 23 in 1970 using the Cincinnati Reds. For the most part I did not change anything in the set up and left all the financial settings on their defaults. The first two seasons went fine, but then at the start of the 1972 season my budget was less than my payroll. When I tried to make some trades nothing would come up when I shopped players and in fact when I tried to manually set up trades they were all ruled invalid because it turns out that apparently every team was over budget. There were no trades recorded at all in MLB during the 1972 season in the transaction log.

At the beginning of 1973 the problem did not self correct. Are there other settings apart from the defaults that should be used when setting up an historical league? Please advise. Thanks.

We actually took a closer look at the issue already today and it should be much improved in the next patch.

Not sure if this is a database issue, but in my league I started in 1871, simmed 1871, however, on the LEAGUE NEWSPAPER section, all articles are dated with today's date, instead of the actual sim date in 1871. One article has Ross Barnes winning the AL Batting Title and reads, "The 172-year-old star...." It should show him being 21 years old.

Looking at the date at the top, the actual sim date is 5/20/2022. I imported this as a historic game started in 1871. It should ready 5/20/1871. So I'm sure that's the actual bug.

Haven't had time to dabble with OOTP 23 much, but the first exhibition series I tried to play there were a couple of pieces of info that caught my eye. In an end-of-season roster series against 2021 Braves-Rays, I noticed Nelson Cruz is not listed on Tampa Bay's roster. Also, Atlanta pitcher Kyle Wright is listed as 38 years old. He is much younger.

Playing with real-life transactions (1971), many transactions are listed as players "released" or "retired," when they were not.

Just pulled up early June, 1971.

Jim Wynn released 6/1/71
Camilo Pascual retired from CLE 6/1/71, then Obtained by CLE 6/2/71.
George Foster retired 6/2/71
George Hendrick retired 6/4/71
Most transactions listed under the MLB--Transactions--Historical Transactions tab are players released or retired who weren't.

IRL, Camilo Pascual was part of a conditional deal with SD in May 1971. He was acquired by SD and then returned. Shortly thereafter, he was released by CLE. He never pitched in MLB again.

Jim Wynn went on the IL on 6/1 and was reactivated on 6/10. Why he would've been released in the sim I do not know.

IRL, George Foster was reactivated from the IL on 6/2. Why he would retire in the sim I do not know.

IRL, George Hendrick was reactivated from the IL on 6/4. Why he would retire in the sim I do not know.

I went ahead and created the 1971 historical season and simmed into June. The real life transactions were performed flawlessly. So, I can't explain why you're getting different results. Did you happen to enable injuries?

No, injuries aren't enabled. The game is imported from OOTP22, so maybe that has something to do with it?

Comparing the transaction lists in 22 and 23, trades in 22 are showing up as "activated from injured list" in 23, "placed on injured list" in 22 is showing up as "released" in 23, and "activated from injured list" in 22 is showing up as "retired" in 23.

I think you've nailed it. OOTP changed the transaction IDs order from 22 to 23, so it's best to import games right prior to the start of the offseason. I'm not sure it can be undone if you moved the game over mid-season from 22 to 23. Do you recall when in the season it was when you migrated the game over from 22? Do you still have the game on 22 to advance it to a better transition point?
