Number of International Amateur Free Agents

Just got to July 1st in my first franchise and only 8 international amateur free agents were generated. My league settings were set to "Default (30 per year)". I'd assume there is some variation built into that value, but 8 seems like it would be out of that range.

The link on the instructions on how to FTP my save files is dead so I haven't done that yet. Below are screenshots. Thanks!

I had the same thing with my MLB 2022 season. Settings at default and only 8 free agents were generated.

FYI, I just tried this in a Fictional game and 31 International Amateurs were created Year 1, so any issues here may be specific to the MLB Quickstart.

There are already some real players in the IAFA pool in the MLB quickstart when you start, so the game may only be creating enough new players to fill this out, rather than a full pool from scratch.

In which case, this is just working as designed.

I started a brand new MLB 2022 season to test this (challenge mode enabled). Checked the IFA pool at the start of the season, and there were no players showing available with a message that the next players would become available on 1st July. Sim'd to 1st July and 8 players were made available. I didn't change any of the settings for generation at the start, they were all left on the defaults.

So it doesn't seem to be working properly, at least for the 1st year of a 2022 MLB season.

Mine was the same scenario. Brand new 2022 season, no international amateurs were present at the start of the season. When July 1st rolled around, only 8 were generated.

Thanks for the clarification. We'll take a closer look at this.

2nd season of my MLB 2022 season I got 29 generated. So it looks like it's possibly just an issue with the 1st season.

When I advanced to the IAFA period in the 2022 season, I only had 8 created. I noticed there were at least 5 I saw in the main free agent pool (probably because they were over 20 years old).

I tried a different setup where 60 IAFA players would be generated and I had about 40 available players as a result.

Yeah problem seems to only effect the 1st season. Simd through 2 more seasons just to see and 23 and 24 were 25+ players

I think what's likely happening here is that the game is counting whatever IAFA's are initially in the db as part of the overall number. So even if they may've signed by the time the new class is created, they still go into the overall number the game is based the creation on, rather than creating a full new class.

In which case, I'm not really sure if this is a bug or working as intended.

That would mean they are currently external to the IAFA process then? I assume you mean they just appear in the list of free agents that can be signed with a minor league contract and (probably) no bonus considerations. This feels like it's not working as intended in that case, as you're not including those players specifically in an international signing window or within the bonus restrictions for that period.

No they should appear as IAFA's, just like the generated guys but they would appear from the start of the save and teams can start signing them then. So by the time the IAFA class gets revealed by the game on July 1st, they've likely already signed somewhere and so don't appear on the list.

That's the thing though, they aren't appearing as IAFA's. That list is blank until 1st July, and then 8 are created.

Ok, so that's probably the bug here for us to get sorted out.
