Nate Lowe (Rangers) now goes by Nathaniel. Apparently his mother contacted the team last season to make the correction.

This may be too esoteric, but Farhan Zaidi is in available personnel rather than under contract with the Giants. Ditto for John Mozeliak with the Cards I think.

It's because those two aren't technically the GM of their respective teams, they're the President of Baseball Operations. I imagine Billy Beane, David Stearns, Mark Shapiro, and Chris Antonetti among others are available too, as they have been for years. I always just manually delete them when starting up a new game.

MLB.com has Hyun-il Choi Pitcher for Dodgers as 28 in prospect rankings. I can't seem to find him anywhere? Just wondering if I'am the only one. Thanks

All the players in the game with Korean nationality that are not specifically covered by one of our licensing agreements have randomized names and dob's due to South Korean law. So just look for a South Korean player in the Dodgers system with similar abilities to Choi, and that's him.

Couple of Cards notes:
Liam Sabino is listed for the Cards AAA but he is actually a member of the Mariners A+ team

Kyke Skeels and Ryan McCarvel are listed as Palm Beach Catchers but I am fairly certain both are released. Neither played last year and MLB.com lists them as on the restricted list

Joerlin De Los Santos and Luis Tena have been released

You asked for vastly incorrect ratings. Mike Trouts 35 speed in vastly incorrect and I present this check swing triple as evidence. He might have 35 speed but not on this planet. https://www.mlb.com/news/mike-trout-...on-check-swing

I feel two Phillies prospects aren't rated very well:

Mick Abel & Andrew Painter...In reality these are both top 5 organizational prospects...and are graded fairly well in terms of FV. In the roster set their ceilings are not very high.

Speed in OOTP is primarily a measure how often players attempt to steal bases. It has nothing to do with a player's straight line speed or actual running speed. So given that Trout has attempted all of 4 steals in the last two seasons, this is pretty accurate.

Abel is the #1 prospect in the Phillies org in-game and 57th overall in MLB. Painter is the #3 Phillies prospect and 86th overall. Their ceilings are very much in line with the rest of the prospects in the set at a similar level to them.

Sabino is with the Mariners in the db.

McCarvel and Skeels are free agents.

De Los Santos and Tena as well.

EDIT:

So I'm not really sure what you're seeing. A couple possible guesses, A. You've simmed some days and the AI has made some moves or B. You've loaded a game using the historical database.

Not sure if this is considered major enough, but it seems odd to me that Zimmer is a worse defensive OF (and specifically CF) than Springer in Toronto. He's been better defensively in OAA, DRS, and UZR/150. The Jays are also using him specifically as a CF defensive replacement so far this year, with Springer moving over to RF when Zimmer comes in late to play CF.

edit: Not trying to come across as "Pls buff Blue Jays", just that the specific interaction between the defense of Springer and Zimmer seems like it might be a bit out of whack given he was brought in and is being used specifically as a defensive replacement in CF.

No worries, this seems pretty reasonable. We'll take a look at it.

Just a note, sometimes there's a reason for stuff like this being how it is, even if it's not truly 'correct'.

For example, if we buff a player too much, even if it's justified, then the AI will start using a player where we don't want.

Like if we buff Zimmer's D, then the AI may suddenly decide to make him the starting RF over Tapia and throw the Blue Jays default lineup off. Or make him the starting CF and move Springer to a corner. Or whatever.

Not sure if this is was the case here, but I just mention it more as a general thing to be aware of in similar cases.

That makes sense and is something I hadn't even considered which is of course why you folks are the ones who make the best sim game in the business.

Thanks

We do put countless hours into testing and balancing out the roster set to make it the most accurate it can be overall, and there's so much that goes into that that may not be obvious at a glance.

Not to say we can't or don't miss things, we're only human and we certainly do and it's much appreciated when folks point those errors out. But for a lot of stuff, even if it seems off at first glance, there's often a reason why it's the way it is.

Felipe Vazquez is still in the Pirates system and playing in AAA in a live start I started recently.

He’s in prison.

That was a bug in the Live Start because technically he's only on the restricted list and shows up like that in the data we get from our stats provider, which overrules the db where he's retired and has a 10+ year injury set.

This is already fixed for the next patch.

Hey there. I started a Blue Jays game and the ratings make them make odd decisions.

The AI wants Lourdes Gurriel to start at 1B instead of Vladimir Guerrero (who is at DH). Gurriel doesn't play 1B IRL while Guerrero is quite a decent 1Bman.

It also moves Bo Bichette over to 2B and puts Santiago Espinal at SS. Bichette is not a great SS, but Espinal is not known for SS either.

It also starts Zimmer in RF over Tapia, but that is a more minor issue.

(They also say the Jays are expected to finish 81-81 when most writers have them as the top team in the AL, but hey. That part is opinion.)
