Nothing makes me want to restart more...
Than long term injuries to my best players by game 30 in year 1, even when long term injuries is set to low. Just had my 3B and best player get sidelined for 5 months.
I am actually thinking about starting a league with injuries turned off. I honestly think that I would enjoy it more, even though I realize that it is not at all realistic and removes some of the strategy. Even though I buy the game every year I never seem to get that deep into a franchise and maybe it is because I am jumping in to the deep end with too much to keep track of and balance. I need to learn to crawl before I walk. So I think I will restart a fictional league. Let it build 20 years of history and then take over the Cardinals. When I take over I think I will turn off long term injuries and set short term injuries to a lower setting. I also think I will turn off the Morale, Team Chemistry and Coach Cohesion. Hopefully this allows me concentrate on the other aspects like team building a team and player development. I will say kudos to the Devs for having all these settings available so I can tailor it to my comfort and fun level. |

I wish there a severity setting for injuries. I'm fine with the number of injuries, but there's usually way too many long-term injuries. I usually have to set it to very low, otherwise i'll 6 or more players out for 6 months regularly. I miss dealing with more DtD injuries with it so low, but i'll trade that for having all my SP out for months every year.

I have always played on "high realistic" injury setting. Do I enjoy losing a key player for a long length of time? No, but...
There's something about it forcing a youngster up to The Show early and having him perform well. Or finding an aging vet on waivers or in the FA pool, signing him, and surviving without the key player. I once had a first round SP I drafted dominating at AA 1st yr, and then AAA 2nd yr. Following that year he made the club in ST looking to be a future #1 and grabbing the second spot in the rotation. He faced one batter in his debut and blew out his arm, gone for the year. Came back but never had the stamina to start again. Valuable setup guy was as good as it got for him. I still think "what if" as if this guy was real and not a "bag of ratings" in a computer game. Disappointing? Sure but, also part of what makes OOTP fun for me. ![]() Not saying you should follow the way I play. If turning off or lowering makes the game more fun for you? Well, that's why we have options and can play the game however we want. It should be fun and not something else that brings stress into our lives.
