While i am glad that they changed the name, being forced (more or less), to use the name Guardians for historical makes no sense to me. You can't erase history, no matter how messed up it may be.

So every season i play historical i will change the name back to the Indians, Spiders, Naps. Somewhat annoying.

Now if someone wants to make historical jerseys to match the Guardians for 1901-2021 i would probably use those though.

You'd have to do it every season or turn off expansion and do it manually.

And at the right time as well, otherwise your team history will get mangled. Plus, how is this going to effect uniform mods?

I believe the start of each offseason if not January 1st.

all historical jerseys are done already. As long as you have the game pointed to the right folder it will load those but you'll probably have to reload Indians manually each year. Since i tend to play as the Sox and use all jerseys available when i play each team I tend to change jerseys manually all the time.

I have the Rockers in several leagues. I love those jerseys. Rockers or Buckeyes were my choice.

All of this makes me happy I play so much random debut with fictional teams.

I always use Rockers when I have a team in Grand Rapids Michigan. Nothing to with music, but Grand Rapids is or used to be a big furniture making city.

This one makes me smile, having grown up in the G.R. area. I never would have thought of using this nickname for a G.R.-based team but I like it.
I believe that G.R. and vicinity are still pretty big in the furniture business but these days it is mostly office furniture (Steelcase, Herman Miller, etc.) and I just don't think the Grand Rapids Conference Tables is a very inspiring moniker.

But it's a perfect opportunity to show how enlightened they are and call anyone who disagrees a racist. It's almost a reflex action.

Name changes ...

I wonder when sports team names became a dirty thing? When I think of teams like the Indians and Braves, I think we are honoring their historical heritage as part of our history as a country. I do not think ohh they have different skin color than me. It seems by cancelling their names and historical signifigance we are taking a step backwards. Why not put our efforts into honoring and celebrating their history rather than erasing them from history?

It is kind of an odd thing for us to do since our history of interactions with the Native Americans was typically one of violence (often perpetrated by the US as it was busily conquering the continent) and then following that up by routinely breaking every treaty we made with them whenever we discovered that the land we forced them onto was discovered to have value. Perhaps we're not really the best people to be honoring them considering the way our ancestors treated the Native American tribes.

Also, the fact that they aren't "Indians" so the name never made sense to honor their heritage.

I agree that this shouldn't even be an issue. Thanks for the update, Markus.

There's a difference between saying "Wow having the name not be there for historical simulations is stupid" and "Cleveland is the indians, washington is the redskins, I'm an idiot!"

Sorry, the native americans, not the Indians. One is right to recall the history behind the issue ... all of it. The Native Americans were honorable and hospitable to our ancestors. Many of our ancestors were wrong with the way they ended up treating them. Therefore, we owe it to our Native Americans to celebrate and honor their heritage and them as a people. Instead of focusing on that we are erasing them from history. Is their lives really going to benefit because we changed a sports teams name? Are we missing an opportunity to raise the bar for them?

Calling a baseball team "Indians" does not honor their heritage in any way whatsoever.

All I know is that I like the red Guardians cap on Amazon and might order one. Won't be playing them as I won't be playing MLB at the start.
