HELP, Need to Improve

http://www.angelfire.com/me4/cbl/images/index.html

I am Oakland. Texas is insanely improving and are bragging the entire way.. What is the #1 way I can beat him this season, who should I trade for? I've been told time and time again not to trade Brian Snyder, so i probably wont...

Any help is appreciated.

I'd trade off Javy Lopez, start Wooten at catcher and use Pierzyznsksirn at backup. Package Alex Sanchez and Eric Byrnes for another utility outfielder and a utility infielder - you need infield depth. Get rid of Tony Womack and find another defensive minded shortstop, and move Eric Munson. Homeruns are nice, but getting other hits as well is even better. Trade off Jeff Cirillo and start Brian Snyder everyday at third base.

Why do you have seven starting pitchers? Move three of them for an ace and a 5th starter if you can, promote Berwick into your bullpen and get Grybowski out of there.

With the age of this club this appears to be your last hurrah for a while, so keep the prospects around and play them. You need less starting pitcher and more infield depth. Try to move some of the older players for younger versions of themselves.

Sounds pretty good... I have Preston Larrison coming up out of AAA next season, after some more improvement, this guy can be a great starter... after delivering back to back years of the best ERA in the minors.

Larrison wasn't in your top ten prospects, so I didn't even notice him.

In that case, trade three of those starting pitchers for a big horse and use Larrison. Russell Berwick should be in the big leagues as well. John-Ford Griffin can be kept around for after Larry Walker is gone, or you can try to move Griffin and Walker as a package for a mid-20s guy who can give you Walker-like production.

I'd put Ben Molina in the bigs and get rid of Pierzynski and Lopez.

Start Contreres, he has very good ratings, even if the stats don't match. Right now you have a 4-man rotation. I'd acquire another OF and some bullpen help. 1B/2B is good with Munson/German . Starting Snyder is a must and you can aquire something decent for Cirillo. Start wooten at catcher and trade lopez. Bonds, Mussina and Walker are old and are gonna be gone soon. If you feel you can't beat Texas, you may want to rebuild since your organization isn't that good. not a big move but you could sign Cody Ransom. He's better than Womack.

Almost always follow stats, and not ratings. Ratings are deceptive, stats aren't nearly as bad.

Since there is a hidden rating effecting how players play up to their ratings, stats might be good in a sense. However, if you must trust only one of them, it's definitely ratings instead of stats. Especially when the stats database is relatively small.

In small sample sizes yeah go with ratings, but by after four or five seasons you should get a good idea of what the guy is doing. I trust stats before I trust ratings, but I use both.

One minor problem with stats: you can't get park adjusted stats easily in game. That makes comparing players by stats just much much harder than by ratings.

True, but that's where guessing comes in handy. Sometimes you're right, sometimes you're wrong.

Contreras has deceptive stats from last yr, I traded for him near the end of last season, he was previously on Florida w/ no run support... and finished 3-1 in an Oakland Uniform.
