Minor League Assignments (like Owner Goals)

I am currently playing as an A-ball manager, and realize there is one area of realism lacking. The purpose of the minor leagues is to develop players, and thus minor league affiliates are at the beck and call of the major league teams. Thus, not only should they have control of the transactions (as they do), they should occasionally have assignments with them.

MLB Transaction Assignment:
SP Wayne Johnson is on injury rehab. Please place him in your starting rotation and work him up to 90 pitches per start by June 30.

MLB Transaction Assignment:
The Seattle Mariners think LF Roger Dean may have more potential as a third baseman. Please give him regular playing time at third base until further notice.

MLB Transaction Assignment:
The Seattle Mariners want you to make CL Vinnie Hernandez into a starting pitcher. Please place him in your rotation and build up his stamina.

Like "Owner Goals", your future with the organization will rely on balancing these assignments with winning games. If the conversion of the outfielder to third base or of the closer to the rotation don't work, maybe the big club stops it, maybe they don't, but if you stop it on your own, that may put you in hot water, or you may be in hot water for losing because of it. Or, with some teams, losing is more acceptable if you succeed in following the assignments and your players develop the way the parent club wants.

Maybe the best thing is to make the defensive switch in the late innings, but not so soon that you're not following directions. Pull the pitcher after four innings the first few starts, then see if he can do five or six.

I actually like this idea. I have tried playing as manager of a Minor League affiliate before, but I just never found it to be that much fun before. Something like this could really increase the immersion when managing in the minors. I would even try it again if this was added.

This is a fantastic idea! OOTP is at it's best when it makes you forget you are playing on a computer. The more you get to interact with the game in this fashion the greater the immersion.
