Can't trade rights to RFA
I have an exceptional 23-year-old RFA (5-star ability and potential) that I need to move. I would like to keep him, but I have too many high-dollar contracts with no move clauses. When I try to trade him for a 1st rounder, the opposing GM always says, "I want a much better player or pick in return for giving up a a draft of that value." This happens for every team, even top teams with no hope of picking in the top 20 next season.
I was hoping someone would just offer-sheet him so I could take their picks in return, but his current asking price is $14M/season. |

Exactly. I think there is a bug in the logic that's related to him not having a contract or having received just a qualifying offer. I haven't had any trouble trading less valuable players for multiple 1st round picks. |

What point in the season are you trying to trade him at? Normally, that message should only be applied to teams that have a chance of finishing with a lottery pick.

I first tried right after the draft. Now I am at August 1 and it's still doing it. Every team gives the same response, all the way up to the one with the 2nd best record in the previous season. This game was upgraded from FHM7 and I have played 1 season since the upgrade, if that makes any difference. |

Strange. I'll take a look at the way that logic is set up, it should only be giving that response for picks that are likely to be very high.

I don't think I mentioned it in my previous post, but I've encountered the same response in situations where it really shouldn't apply. So... Thanks for taking a look!

I think I'm going to need to see the save to have a look at the particular player being offered in the trade, if he's rated 5/5 that should be more than enough to avoid that specific rejection message.

Save: Expanding Universe.lg 2035-08-01 A.7z (you can delete the other failed uploads with similar names) My Team: Nashville Player: Alexander Riegler Columbus was the 2nd best team last season. Try trading Riegler to them for a 1st round pick. |

Definitely something wrong there, it's giving me that answer for any draft pick before the 5th round. Looks like it's a combination of the AI not accepting the rights to an unsigned high-value player for a high pick, and a mistaken evaluation of how high the pick is. We'll have to check both things.
In the meantime, his contract request has come down quite a bit, so if you can clear about $2m in budget space (trading Smiryaglin would work) you'll have just enough to re-sign him, then trade him without any restrictions. |

Glad I'm not crazy. Thanks for the extra tip. That's what I was going to try next, but I haven't had a chance to play in a few days.
