Is defensive skill really valued as lowly relative to offensive skill in the real world as is represented in this game? Even among defensemen, the bias in the overall ratings in favor of offensive ability is very pronounced. On the one hand, I can see that you model goal creation and goal prevention as opposite sides of the same coin, skaters divide the whole goal creation portion among themselves but only the part of goal prevention not attributed to the goalie. On the other hand, I wonder if the stats-based ratings advantage offensive players (whether because offensive stats such as goals and assists are the greater part of the stats used and / or because even stats like plus-minus are biased towards offensive players due to the fact that their ice time is typically tilted towards offensive zone usage while the opposite is true for defense-oriented skaters).

How do you fix this issue? I don't really understand what's going on here. From what I can see i'm way under my budget at 19 millions.

It's the expenses on the right side. You have to lower spending on either Scouting, Team Morale, Game Promotions.

Yeah, the -2.7 in monthly spending is a no-no.

I have the hall of fame settings on Committee and 1 year after retirement in my custom league. I am 14 seasons in and have had some recent retirements that should definitely qualify, but I don't see any activity there and no one selected.

Thoughts? Should I change from committee?

Salary's for Historic saves are out of wack. Not sure if this has been mentioned.

Is this a glitch or simply a Database Research issue? (I could volunteer my services for this.)+

Examples at the start of 2010-11 season:

Mike Richards was at $5.75M for 8 more Years
Timonen - $6.33M for 3 more years
Pronger - $4.935M for 7 years

All contracts in Historical are randomly generated right now.

Is it possible for players with a NTC/NMC to have a button to ask them what teams they'd be willing to go to instead of having to try adding them to a trade with every team individually?

Also, can you guys make it so that at the draft you can see what number each pick is in the trade screen? Not sure how hard it is to implement but it was a nice quality of life change when NHL added it.

It would also be cool if AI teams made counter-offers when they rejected a trade if its close but I'm almost certain the code for that would be impractical to make.

Is there a glitch for the RFA offer sheets in historical mode? One of my player got offer sheeted, I got the email, decided not to match. It's been a month and I received an email every single day asking for an answer, so I clicked to not match the offer 30 days in a row. I got tired and signed him and just waived the player so ended up loosing the compensation. But anyway, just thought I would put it out there so it can be looked at.

Is there an option in this game like Football Manager, where I can do very little? I want to trades, signings, lineups, etc. But not much else. Is that possible? Or do you have to control everything?

In a word, yes.

If you only want to control trades, signings and lineups, you can go to Manager -> Options and set everything else to 'Assistant.' (Assistant is AI, whereas Joe Average is the human player). Kind of like the image below:

How easy is it to create an identical copy of the NHL ecosystem (same rules, AHL relationships, etc) but with fictional players and zero league history (so day one of my new game would be day one of this universe)? Coming from OOTP where that’s my preferred game type and I’ve had some struggles in the past setting it up correctly.

During drafts. Would it be possible to add a confirmation box for when you press AI Pick button. Next Pick button just changes into AI Pick when its your turn, so if you don't pay attention, you're gonna press AI Pick.
