Issue with Pitching Changes When Simming Half Innings

I've noticed this for years, I'm not sure why I haven't mentioned it before, but has anyone else noticed the issue?

If you play out a game, and you're the home team, the AI will not make a pitching change for you if you choose Quick-Play... Half Inning. Unless the pitcher gets hurt, or throws an obscene amount of pitches, he doesn't get removed at all. It's hard to notice because your team has to give up a ton of runs in that specific half inning for it to even be noticed.

But the AI for some reason doesn't make pitching changes in this situation. I just played out a full season and unless my pitcher got injured, the "quick play half inning" never resulted in a pitching change in that same half inning. Sometimes my reliever would give up 7 or 8 runs in the half inning without being removed, despite a fully rested bullpen. This makes it difficult to quick sim a half inning if I don't want to watch my pitcher but would like to hit in the bottom half.

However, it only happens if you choose to sim a half inning. If I'm in the 6th inning and choose the quick play option to sim to the 7th inning, the AI works as normal and will replace a struggling pitcher. Even if it's the bottom of the 6th and you choose sim half inning, no pitching changes occur. But if you choose "Quick Play to 7th" the AI will make pitching changes if needed. It's odd.

Is this a known issue, or has it simply gone unnoticed because it's difficult to spot?

Thanks as always for such a great game.

I don't know if this is a bug/issue or if it was by design, but it came up in a stream with Rich and Alex several years ago - Big Red Machine; Rich got frustrated and clicked the Half-Inning button until the game ended and his middle reliever ended up throwing like 130 pitches.

I always assumed it was intentional, as a way to get through a half-inning quickly when you explicitly don't want the AI to make subs - say, the first couple innings of a regular-season game or if you want to manage the pitching subs/strategy but sim through your team batting without the AI pinch hitting/running.

I have noticed this as well and needs to be fixed. It also happens if you sim until runner in scoring position, and then sim half inning. It happens to me when I have a starter that has a big lead and runner on second with 2 outs and I want to get to the next inning but wind up having my starter throw 130 pitches and gives up 8 runs.
