Avoiding the "release" bug
Just making sure that I know how to avoid this as both of my leagues are going in to the off-season.
Before the amatuer draft and free agent period, I can import lineups with no problems whatsoever. Once either the draft and free agency have begun, I cannot import any lineups until after the period is complete and the owner has downloaded the current version of the league file. Just looking for confirmation here. TIA

Yes, that will work. You may run into problems during the season if you are in the habit of importing lineups, doing trades etc, and then doing one last import right before the sim as well.

So, is it possible to do FA entirely by export, by putting out a new league file after each round and taking exports back from the owner, as long as you don't take any ROSTER exports, only FA exports?
I hope that was clear. Thanks for any help - I'm desperate for info.

here is the tall and skinny of it to make it really simple for ya, the bug works like this:
When an export is done now, the file simply looks for players that aren't there and assumes they were released, so, if someone does an export and they didn't have draft picks etc on the export and you import it to a file that has players they didn't have when they exported, they are released. To avoid it, just don't import an export file that is older then the last file release, delete or move your old exports right after a sim.....tell your owners to export ONLY from the current file and all will be well. |

Ah...thank you - perfect answer.
Seriously - that was a model answer, and since I suspect you're on the OOTP team, I'll specify what I liked about it so much: - While it didn't answer my question with a yes/no, it did give me enough information to answer it. - It told us EXACTLY what the program does, which is enormously helpful for avoiding the problems. I can't tell you how many times I've asked for that kind of answer in the case of other issues.
