Detroit Tigers of the NABL Are Available
The North American Baseball League - NABL - has a vacancy and is looking for a solid, dedicated owner.
The Detroit Tigers are available. The Tigers - Matt Dyck's old team, is a team on the rise. They are a huge hitting force and boast the best outfield in baseball - Tris Speaker, Shoeless Joe Jackson and Benny Kauff. Along with a decent infield and good pitching, this is a team that could dominate for the rest of the decade with the right tweaks here and there. The league started with the 1901 season in November 2002 with 16 teams involved with an initial draft. Prior to the 1905 season (March, 2003), the league converted to OOTP v5. We use real players imported via the Lahman Database, and strive to faithfully re-create baseball history. The NABL is a VERY fast paced league, popping off a season every three weeks. The good news about such a fast-paced league is that if your team has to rebuild, you wont spend the next year or two of your life watching your team suck - four or five months or real-time at most can change a team from the basement to the top (or vice-versa, as your team ages). Because of the speed of the league, only true fanatics - the type who are competitive and want to compete against the best and work towards climbing the mountain - will really be considered. While during the season most teams are fairly hands-off (once depth charts are filled in, its just injuries to worry about), trades and the draft are THE KEYS to winning in this league. Most teams build via the draft, but when a trade does happen - only a handful a season - they are usually blockbusters. We are just starting our 15th season and, arguably, the NABL is one of the toughest leagues around, with some of the best and brightest owners going (Fulling, Jordan, Mann, Miskowski, Johnson, Allen, Grassi to name just a few). It is also one of the best leagues in terms of participation, usually topping the 80% participation level sim in and sim out, season after season. As a commish I am a firm believer in participation, as teams that win are invariably those whose owners give a damn and do whats necessary to either get their team to the top or keep it there. I am an active owner in the league (Chicago White Sox) and have been since the beginning. My team is a regular season powerhouse, thanks to some crafty trading (well, one crafty trade in picking up The Hammer - Christy Mathewson), but the Gordon/Connie Mack/Chicago Curse always, without fail, cripples me come September time, almost comically finding ways to lose when it matters most (that damn karma thing). If anyone is interested in either team please check out the league site, the rules, and then get back to me. When sending me an email, let me know your OOTP experience, any leagues you have been in or are currently in (URLs included - I prefer to get recommendations from other Commishes or owners I know in leagues an applicant is in, in order to avoid constant team turnover). Cheers, Dean Gordon Commish - EBL, NABL Last edited by Dean Gordon; 10-31-2003 at 12:30 PM. |

Despite Deans curse this is a great league (especially now that the Cincinnati Roses are at least a .500 team....only took 14 years

Hey, even the Brownies have 1 World Championship to their credit...and if they didn't blow a 3-1 lead in the 1914 series, they'd have two!
Its a good league, with knowledgable owners...now if only they'd stop trading Dean 1st round picks for aging stars, we'd be set!
