So the Cardinals are giving Dave Pavlesic some time at 1B. (Unable to pull off the Sadecki-for-Cepeda deal, the St. Louis AI is going with Phil Gagliano as the starter, which isn't exactly working out.). IRL, Dave only spent five seasons in OB (and a couple of cups of Joe later on, when he was a coach and would be activated in emergencies).

Interestingly enough, all five of Dave's seasons were with the Tulsa Oilers. He did get a "promotion" in 1966, when Tulsa moved from the AA Texas League to the AAA Pacific Coast League, but even so. And never the next step, obviously.

I could have sworn Dave was in the Topps Vault, but a search of the Photopack thread doesn't show his presence. Just this, courtesy of Splitter_24 in the minor leagues thread:

He was sooo good in 1980. Steve Stone? Steve freakin' Stone? Winzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!! Stone had a nice year, but Norris, Doug Corbett (No votes...You're a rookie son...There'll be other years), Britt Burns (no votes), Larry Gura, Tom Burgmeier, Rudy May, Stone's teammate Scott McGregor, Quiz, Goose, Tommy John, Moose Haas probably all had better years. That's 11, and there are only five spots on the ballot. Turrible. My top five for my ballot please. Blech!

Dave Pavlesic also wrote a book ("I Was Born to Play Baseball") and it was from that cover picture that I took the image I based the fg on. Alas, the book is out of stock:

In 1966, he listed his favorite hobby as "Listening to Jazz". After baseball, he opened a Men's and Women's clothing store in Billings, Montana called "The Unique Reflection". I'm looking at a picture of him and his then-wife in a delightful ad in the Billings Gazette from December 10,1972 and it invites us to come by the store and meet the proprietors, Dave & Betty Pavlesic. Alas, we missed our chance... but Dave still talks about that Tulsa homerun against Don Larson... just lights up when he recalls that at-bat...

Does anyone have a facegen for Adam Eaton the pitcher? He seems to be missing from the pack. The modern batter named Adam Eaton's photo comes up in his place. Adam Eaton the pitcher wasn't good or bad but serviceable enough during the first six years of his career; when he was with the Padres 2000-2005, he went 796 IP/4.34 ERA/92 ERA +
