Prepping for OOTP 23
I haven't played OOTP 22 in a few months and was thinking about picking it up again this week. My league just started the offseason (awards about to be announced).
My question is: in anticipation of needing to upgrade this league to OOTP 23 in the near future, would I be better off staying in the offseason stage, starting the next season, or doesn't matter? I wasn't sure if one scenario made the upgrade easier than others. |

doesn't matter but it's always nice to play a new version just before spring training.

It doesn't matter when you move to the new version.
I always move my leagues on January 1st so that the new season starts with the new features of the new version

I’ve not had a problem moving various sims from OOTP 21 to 22, and I wasn’t anticipating a problem moving from 22 to 23 ASAP. But I do like the idea of trying out the new features over Spring Training. That means any significant new settings can be handled pre-season, i.e. before it’s too late. And there may be some adaptation to changes, even if just to menus and sliders, that is best learned in the Spring.

You can move to the next version at any time but my preference is to move just after the playoffs and before the financial year flips (start of off-season). I do it then because then any changes to finances, contracts, contract negotiations, Free Agency, arbitration are done on the new version. Plus there are no games happening and you have the offseason to learn about changes to game settings and controls before games resume.
Again, just my preference and my reasoning may be sound or not.
