The Chasm between Silver and Gold levels

My three teams are all in their first Gold seasons, and all are competing for playoff spots (one has practically clinched its division). But in one of my other teams' divisions, there is a guy who is 29-90 with a lineup of

B-A-L Raines
98 Ryan Zimmerman
B-A-L Heilmann
99 Dale Murphy
SE Slaughter
100 Bobby Doerr
SE Vic Martinez
SE Pendleton
SE Trammell

His rotation is
Select Burnes (4-11)
SE Young (8-12)
Select Buehler (4-14)
B-A-L Hudson (2-7)
SE Sutton (3-18)

His bullpen is
SE Langston
B-A-L Kazmir
SE Verlander
Live Rodon
SE Valverde
Fitzsimmons
Leever
SE Scherzer

Obviously, he did well enough at the Silver level to get to the Gold level, but his team ERA is over 6 and his run differential is -282. I suspect the gap between Gold and Diamond is even bigger.

It's falling. The big cut-off is still completion of FH3 and acquisition of the associated toppers, but a lot more people are doing that in Gold than those in Diamond are acquiring the metas to stay ahead in player-power, so the gap is narrowing. You still see obvious no-hopers coming up, but the number reduces each week.

I concur... the larger gap is now between silver and gold. Even during my last cup of coffee in diamond three weeks ago, I was one of a handful of teams that hadn't finished FH3 and playing with a handful of bought metas. Teams with records over .500 in diamond are getting demoted to gold at this point, and they may have been a lucky break from a postseason crapshoot to perfect.

My secondary theme team just won silver last week and will never again have a winning record in gold, unless all the bottom-tier teams are lumped in the same division. My main team has the best record in its gold league, but rosters FH toppers (along with the deGrom, Berra, Carlton, and Brouthers mission awards), plus a couple purchased metas. The most that team will be distinguished from the rest of the diamond league next week is two or three players of choice.

There are still totally random slips: the winner of the weakest division in my league (82 wins) made it to the gold finals and will get destroyed next week, but all-in-all, the gap in diamond is thinning and it's moving to gold.

I live in said chasm. My 100 win team in silver, is my 100 loss flub in
gold.

Seaver/Pedro/Gibson/Carlton/Lee are silver studs, but golden floppers.

Ah well I live by the words buy, rip, and hope.

For me the 2nd largest gap was from iron to bronze and the largest was from gold to platinum. Many seasons ago I won the silver WS and was immediately competitive at gold though I have yet to win a WS there. Lost both times I was in it.

Managed 2 Gold WS earlier in the year, and have been "properly educated" in more recent weeks about the gap from Silver to Gold...in other words I got something handed to me, and it wasn't Christmas ham. C'est la vie...it was still fun.

I have a team that has basically stayed in Diamond (one season in Perfect) for the last several months, and another I let go for a while, and have recently started using (have been in Gold now for about a month).

I can say, in Diamond, to compete, you’ve got to have the FH3 missions completed.

My Gold team is about halfway through FH3, and I’ve made the playoffs each year, winning 100+ games each year. The rosters below Diamond do vary much greater. While having a completed FH3 in Gold likely means an easy division win, you can certainly compete in gold without the Speaker, Collins, SP’s. I’ve been trying to strategically complete the FH3’s based on team need (needed 2B, so I finished the Cards and Indians. Needed catcher, so I finished the Rangers). Also, knowing what plays in Diamond/Perfect also helps me know which FH3 and toppers to keep, and which to sell.

I jsut got booted from diamond after having a .650 season in Gold. Now the nearly same team is playing .350 ball after being competitive in gold for a decade. Dont' know if something changed in the last two weeks but unless you're bankrolling a team, it'll be pretty difficult to be competitive above Gold.

Nothing has changed. Since only 1 team promotes out of diamond and 9 or 10 relegate, it's a very tough to stay in. (Not to mention the 24 teams booted from perfect league).

Dunno about the gap from Gold to Diamond falling

I had a team win 106 games in Gold, get promoted, win 49 games, get demoted, and win 117 in Gold again. But the Gold league playoffs are really tough with many of the teams FH3 complete. I doubt that any of my teams will see Diamond again.

This week, my 3 teams (all in Gold) won 117, 100, and 91 games and went a combined 0-1 in the playoffs.

Exactly. FH3 is huge for Diamond level. You are also finding FH3 teams in Gold getting over 110 wins. Then the other difference is the hall of fame collection, Honus, Babe, Cobb, Rivera.

Yup. I just fluctuate now between 100 plus wins in silver and 100 plus losses in gold year after year.
