When is free agency?

Sorry if this has been answered before, did a search but didn't find anything. I am coming from decades and 1200+ games of EHM where free agency always began on 1 July but in FHM that doesn't seem to be the case. I selected free agency under my team tab and only my players show up, so how do I find players that are UFA and I can sign in the off season that have left their former NHL team? I can find lots of UFA who play in other leagues but not NHL.

I have to admit the strange dates in FHM is throwing me for a loop, I am use to real dates as per the NHL but unless I am missing something it seems to me that FHM randomly generates the event days and UFA date is not shown in NHL events?

**I just thought of something, when did UFA's come in, I am playing historical, 1995, maybe UFA wasn't around then, can't remember**

Free Agency begins on July 1 (although players won't begin deciding on offers until a week later.) The Free Agent Centre on the team menu will show any available free agents.

Ok thanks Jeff. I guess I keep missing it and there is no event in the event log under NHL tab from what I see?

Hope things are better in Kelowna, I am in Courtenay on the island, too much snow here, my bushes are flattened with the 30+cm of snow.
