Babe Ruth Question
I'm not in to the Ruth era yet (I'm only 1911 and I play very slowly), but what happens after his historical debut as a pitcher? Does he then organically develop like any other player, probably staying a pitcher for life? I want to play this world as an alternate reality, but no baseball simulation is complete without the Babe being THE BABE.

That most likely depends if you're letting the game engine take over or if you're importing updated ratings/stats each season.
If it's up to the game engine, he could become a gr8 pitcher, a gr8 hitter, a flop....many things could happen. Updated ratings/stats will prob see him change over to mainly hitter like real life. |

Look under historical. Right hand side. Look to see if you have the box for recalc checked or not. If you don't have it checked you are using the game engine only.

I do not have that box checked and the option is grayed out so that I can't make a change to it. Ugh. Looks like Ruth is going to be a pitcher.

I do have that option checked, so I think I'm just going to see what happens when the time comes. See if he stays the Babe or becomes THE BABE.

Well, it will probably be awhile. This was just a musing that randomly popped into my head for some reason.

Another alternative reality I am exploring is teenage Babe signing with the Baltimore Terrapins of the Federal League in 1914. Heck, he was playing across the street for the AAA Orioles that year, still mostly a pitcher. In my 1914 simulation, it was pretty easy for the Baltimore Feds to sign a hometown guy who was not yet a star. Thus far, he is in the rotation, and occasionally playing OF. He is raw as both a hitter and a pitcher; but obviously talented. Will he be able to save the Federal League, maybe induce some Major League veterans to jump over? If not, does he end up with the Red Sox, or the Yankees?
