I'm the commissioner of the American Baseball Association. We are a slower-paced league. We sim Monday-Friday during the regular season with 3 days passing between each sim (We are likely going to be advancing that to a 4-day sim each time this upcoming season.), and during the off-season we sim daily (And occasionally towards the end of the free agency, we will sim multiple times a day) We do live sims every day. We've been around since OOTP 18 and I'm the 2nd commissioner of the league. Our previous commissioner is still in the league as an active GM, just didn't have the time to commit to running the league full time. Because of the slower pace, we are finishing our 12th season here in the next couple of weeks.

We are a fully fictional league for both teams and players, so there won't be any advantage of knowing real-life players who are successful long-term in-game.

Our off-season is slower-paced compared to others as well to encourage bidding wars and allow players to take advantage of a truly open market, so GMs have to be more thoughtful about offers they are putting in.

Our current year is 2011, but financials are set to the 1960's so it's a bit different than what some are used to but it's a fun challenge. We do allow rule changes, and all rule votes are held at the start of the postseason.

We currently have 2 teams that will be available, 1 of which is available right now.

Chicago Blue Light Special (Note this team will be available at the conclusion of our playoffs. You can still claim them though) - Chicago has been the best team in ABA history up to this point. They have a team that is championship-ready right now and will be in the upcoming playoffs. They also have the biggest budget of any team currently. It is perfect for anyone who is wanting to jump into a winner right away.

Any team you pick and their minor league teams can be re-branded, we just ask that re-branding happens before we get to free agency to allow us to get divisional alignment set before free agency bidding begins.

Maine’s GM this past season took over an absolute mess, cut contracts and put the team in a position to at least have a profit this year and start righting the ship so it has a good starting foundation for a GM looking to build a team up.

The Pittsburgh Phantoms are available. I don't want to publicly disclose the reason for availability, but if you are interested in hearing more about the team and the reason they are open I can discuss it with you in private. I'm currently running the team as if they were my own due to the circumstances, so the team will be cared for while they are open. This team has a lot of work that will need to be done to get them into a successful spot, but with the right moves, they could get there in the next few seasons. This build-up will take about 1-2 real-life years to get them into a good spot, so this will be a commitment. With the group of GM's we have though there will be support for any new GM coming in.
