Shaking My Head
Yeah, this game has gotten way to rich for me. Not knocking it . I just can't afford to get out of Gold level, so I'm shutting it down. Set my lineups & wait for next years version of OOTP GO! Enjoy people....
BB Don't bother posting nasty messages to me. I'm not returning to forum until next season starts for OOTP GO |

While BB is not going to be participating in this conversation, his comment raises an interesting topic. Do you all take a winter break from PT and (if so) when do you “end” your season? Do you drop it cold turkey or does your involvement have a more casual slide into the winter months?
I’m still engaged at this point. I worked hard to complete the FH missions as a F2P guy and I feel it would be a shame to walk away from my season so soon after building my roster. I’ve been competitive at Diamond since June with one season up in the PL. I would have been back in the PL this week if my guys hadn’t blown a 3-1 lead in last week’s DL finals. I know that I will need a break but I think that I’ll still focus on my team for at least a few more weeks. What’s your approach?

Most of us die-hards are probably still invested (I am), but this is definitely the time of the year when overall activity levels fall off pretty significantly.
Would be a lot more excited if one of those 1100 packs I had banked had one of the new cards inside, but oh well. |

I am using the HOF drop to trigger a pack opening week since I don’t see myself buying cards at this point and have 800K of PP banked. I’m 300 packs in and haven’t gotten anything noteworthy. I’m taking a break to sell of some of the cards. It looks like I’m heading for a net loss of about 50K from this run which is fine. I don’t expect to get one of the new HOF cards, but you never know.

I'm currently waiting on one card to finish FH3. Unfortunately, it happens to be one I previously sold after completing the mission, and never seems to be available at auction. I'm giving it another couple of weeks to see if it shows, but if it doesn't I'll be pretty much stuck and will have had enough, I think. Unless I pull one of the new uber cards to sell, anyway.

I think part of it will be when I see a noticeable drop in activity. I’m seeing somewhat of a down tick in the speed that Bronze tournaments fill up, but it is fairly minor now. When the broader activity drops off more, then I’ll feel that any success my team has is a bit hollow. That’s when it will be time to pack it up until the spring.

I pretty much dropped it a few weeks ago. Once you realize not much is going to change going forward, other things in life start looking more interesting. I've turned my attention to the classic game - always have a chance there - you just start over

Will there be a new version of OOTP Go next season, or is the current version good for next season?

I think to BB's point, there are too many unrealistic super cards that taint the game and cost mega PP.
It would be nice to have just peak regular season for players instead of super unrealistic mega peak cards. The Ruth and Williams cards are too powerful!

P.S. Thinking about it, one particular issue aside, probably the best guide to any investment I have in the game is my remaining tolerance for opening up packs. Compared with the heady April days when every gold and diamond card was an event and each pack opened with excited anticipation, the further you go the more tedious seeing the same faces again and again and again before quick-selling duplicates in bulk gets. The only cards that make any difference are so rare even most perfects just get auto-sold or shunted to auction with little more than a 'whatever'. While I can think of a couple of possible solutions, both would only enhance a 'freemium' business model I consider highly exploitative anyway, so I'll keep them to myself.

Interesting question. While the PC game kept the servers for the previous year active for a further year, they were in practice abandoned en masse for the new season. I really can't see them wanting two separate versions of the FTP app floating about on the stores, so I'm guessing the whole thing will be just replaced with a reset and shiny new update for the '22 MLB season.

Moseby. Although I suppose even posting that on a public forum is a pretty strong indicator that my level of engagement is not what it once was.
I do find it irritating as I was stupid enough to sell ten mission reward cards later needed for FH3, but managed to re-obtain nine of them in addition to completing the missions necessary for the rest. I've only seen Moseby once at auction - for an excessive price well beyond my depleted PP means - and that was a couple of weeks ago. While the coffers have improved somewhat since, I've more or less given up looking TBH. Should he appear but at a price I can't afford I suspect I would quit there and then.

I know how you feel. I managed to complete FH3 yesterday but at a very heavy price, having to quick sell toppers (namely Crawford, Dahlen, Gooden and Martinez) and various FH3 cards I was never going to use in order to buy back Angels and Astros cards while they were available.
Lesson learnt I suppose. |

i.e. when the American contingent are catching their beauty sleep, presumably. No real surprise there, although I admit that's the only time I ever used to enter bronze tourneys.

I still can't help but think if the card progression was slowed down a couple things would happen. One; there wouldn't be any need to keep creating "super" cards that have little relation to real life, and Two; the value of lesser cards would remain high for a longer period- thus keeping the business model going.
I don't think we have a broken game as much as I think they just started releasing better cards so fast they had to start creating "super" cards to keep things going after the historical record couldn't support yet a better card.

It also resulted in worsening an already existing problem with the huge imbalance between Live and historic cards with even the likes of Trout and DeGrom becoming no more than 20K throw-aways far too soon. To me that throws away an important aspect of the game, the performance of actual players during the season, the need to assess and predict same in purchasing and dealing to acquire cards you could actually use. Yes, these would eventually would become obsolete as better historics were introduced, but such introductions should at least reflect the prestige of the actual players concerned, and while having better stats should not totally blow early cards of the same 'value' away. And above all, this should be planned from the start. Sure, Koufax was a great pitcher but that much better than DeGrom? Or Martinez?? If so, then make Koufax the 100 and the others 98 or 99. Again, we all know PT is more collectable card game than baseball game, but I think more planning could restore the balance, if only a little. But, speculation... for all I know the way they have done it extracts the optimum amount of money from the players .

It’s Sunday at noon ET and there are only 46 active Bronze Bo7 tournaments. During the season that is usually sitting at 65-70. I’d say that the slowdown is happening.
