College Draft Pool Age Problem

Hoping someone can tell me why my draft pools (fictional league) are generating many college players whose ages are in the mid-to-late 20s. I have set age 22 as the Created Players Age Maximum in the Fictional Players Settings, but that has no effect. Is there another setting somewhere?

You may need to go into the actual COL league settings - check the age max has been put there as well. There's a chance you've only applied it to the MLB level.

Appreciate the response. I did not have a college feeder league created, so I created one and filled it with fictional players. The age limit fields for the league were greyed out, but when I checked the list of players, all of them conformed to the limits...so it must have picked them up from my setting in the main league. We'll see if that works when the next draft rolls around!

Yeah, lower league levels cannot have age limits put on them if they are acting as feeder leagues. You used to be able to but now the parent league annoyingly controls all age settings. To change that you need to briefly break the "daisy chain" and set the age limits then add the players then reattach to the parent league. But this should only matter if you are using historical rookies, who import at their rookie age irrespective of age settings. If you are only using fictional players it should be OK from now on.

Hope it works out for you.

It seems I remember in the game settings you have to set both the minimum age and the maximum age for the limits to work.

Yeah, like I said, the game recognises only the top level and the settings for it override those of the feeder leagues. So for this to work you need to unhook it as a feeder league before the Draft class is created, then reattach again down the track. Even then it is a fairly inexact science. You need to make the Pool release as short as possible before the Draft, have the feeder league standing alone and the age settings entered in the settings FOR THE FEEDER LEAGUE before the release, then keep it unaligned until after the Draft itself. You also need to ensure the Draft settings for the feeder league are correct.

It is, in short, a nightmare. Trust me, I know - the manual for my ACBA (NCAA with historical players as well as fictional) save runs into pages of instructions that were worked out on a trial and error basis over a number of months and need to be followed to the letter EVERY season. Even then I have to change the ages because I am using historical rookies who come in at all kinds of age. With 100 teams it's no wonder the seasons are running out at about 2 per real time year if lucky.

Good luck, wish I had better news and hope somebody else does - for both our sakes!

Wow. My prob is trivial compared to yours. Sounds like it's easier for me to just change the ages. But thanks again for the detailed help!
