First FHM 8 Season Complete – Observations/Questions
Completed my first fictional season, fictional players, 32 team season. Played FHM 7 extensively, and loved it, and I like the added stuff in FHM 8. Works great, no bugs encountered.
Got hit hard with injuries. 34 separate injuries, with 6 more than a month, and 4 for 3 months or more (including my 5-star Captain who missed 40 games – not whining though). I know I may have my share of injury prone players, but the frequency seems a bit high. Being the first year, had limited depth on Reserve List and had trouble at times just filling out my lines. My question is, before I contemplate adjusting the injury frequency, is the Normal rating based on historical realism? I want everything as realistic as possible, so if it is, I’ll leave it. I always try to get the best Trainer available, and have one with an Excellent rating. I assume having a good trainer helps with injuries? Is there any other management options that would help reduce injuries or durations? One other note. With Suspensions turned on, there seems to be quite a bit more of those than actually happen in the NHL. Thanks for your time. Really enjoying the game. |

The normal setting tries to keep the injury days missed (you can see that number in the league - stats - team stats page) at a realistic level, yes.
Training skill will have an effect on injury recovery, but not on prevention, that depends on the players' injury proneness ratings. The only thing you can actively do to reduce injury chances is avoid playing players while they're hurt or very fatigued. |
