Figment League - Fictional Historical league needs 1 GM

Figment League Baseball needs one GM for an opening in our Japanese league.

Figment has two separate professional leagues - one in the US/Canada called FABL and one in Japan. Typically the path to becoming a FABL GM now begins by running a Japanese team.

The league is fictional - all the players, teams, managers, etc are all fictional, but the general "theme/feel" of the league is historical in nature. FABL is modeled on MLB with two 8-team leagues (the Federal and Continental Associations), playing a 154-game schedule ending each season with the pennant winners squaring off for the World Championship.

The league itself began in 1876 with a 50-season "pre-play" period run by me. We went live as an online league in 1926 and the league is currently starting the 1939 season. The Japanese league debuted in 1938, so this would be just the second season of its existence. It runs on a smaller, simpler scale and is a good way to get your feet wet with the group of GMs as we share a common Slack channel that is very active. The only requirement vis-a-vis Slack is that you reply to trade offers. Beyond that, how much or how little you get involved in the discussion is up to you.

We have an excellent group of GMs who are active and helpful and welcome everyone, even if this would be your first online league.

If you haven't done so, I heartily recommend checking out some of the dynasty threads on the league, written by various GMs. A very good one is the All Things Figment thread by TigerFan who runs our Brooklyn club. He covers the whole league and does a fantastic job. There are also several team-oriented dynasties as well as one written by me about the "first family" of FABL (the Barrells).

The available team is Kyoto. You can check out the HTML reports here:
Kyoto Bears homepage.

If you have any questions, feel free to post here or shoot me a private message.

Thanks for reading!

Cannot recommend this highly enough. Once you try stats only, you'll never want to go back to a ratings league. It's a great group of fellow GMs and we have a very active Slack, where you'll find us discussing everything from the historiography of World War Two to why (or why not) wRC+ is a good stat by which to measure hitters.

Echoing our esteemed Commissioner and mjj. We have a really awesome group of GMs: talented players and nice people. For long-time online players and players just starting out, there’s something for everyone. Truly an immersive experience, from the historical back-stories to the competitive but friendly nature of the league, it’s the best experience I’ve had in 15 years or being an online GM.

Sims Monday thru Friday advancing one week each day during the season. No sims on the weekend or on major holidays. Sims are always done early in the morning US eastern time so have all day and evening to submit next export.
