Best way to remove Houston
Not looking for opinions on the matter. It's my fantasy league and it's happening. I am simply looking on the best way to do this and actually how to do this.
This is my current thinking: 1) Wait till the end of the season and retire any particular players I believe knowingly cheated. 2) Remove Houston and sub-teams (how do I do this?) 3) Create a new expansion team to take up the slot (how do I do this?) 4) Expansion team gets a draft while other teams get to protect 25 players Thoughts? Concerns? Ideas on how to do this better? |

First question I have is do you want all the players currently in the Houston organization to all become free agents? If you delete the Astros and all their minor league teams, all of the players will become free agents.
This will be an extremely manual process for you, there is a wizard built in the game for expansion teams, but you can only expand by even number of teams. You would have to make a list of all the protected players and then manually move the players to the new team. Your best bet would be to just rename the Astros to whatever city would get the expansion team and retire the players you wanted to remove from the league. |

What if I go into commissioner mode and just remove all the coaches and get rid of the owner (can I do that?), retire people that cheated, and change the name but keep it in Houston?

On an expansion draft the game sets up teams get automatic production for players under 3 years experience. 25 plus those players leaves an awful lot of protected players. So be careful about the number protected players. Of course you have only one team choosing and 29 plus the Astros FAs to choose from so that changes things. I suggest you run several mock drafts to see what kind of team you end up with before deciding on exact draft setup.
Are you going to put the new team someplace other than Houston? |

In my current attempt I just deleted Houston and then added a new team (game randomly created Honolulu Angers, and that works for me). I selected for league to fill teams with players and coaches and then assigned the former houston sub-teams to Honolulu. Seems to be working decently so far. The Players it created for me were mostly bad, so I had fun trading and getting decent free agents.

This would work. Retire whoever you want including coaches. Then rename or relocate (helluva lot less messy than deleting and/or expanding).

Thank you. I believe I will try this now as my first attempt didn't work. For some reason it changed my playoffs to 3 series of best of 7s. Any idea why it would change my playoffs like that? Last edited by EmptyH; 10-04-2021 at 01:52 PM. |

How about the other 12 teams the initial article said that they cheated such as Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers?

I am assuming you want to get rid of the team and its history? but some of your replies don't seem like that is important to you. if you don't care about that, comissioner mode could get it done.
if oyu want to obliterate the team and prevent new history from accruing, need to delete them and replace them. while you can erase entire league history, i don't recall this option per team. Shortlist the organization (go to their player list and include minors and int'l complex)... This will help later on. easy to move them to another team or add to a draft pool etc.. maybe, set up draft as i think was stated in another reply is another option. FA draft or expansion draft? that may require a certain order to work well.. I'd delete the team first day of offseason. That way the previous year's stats are compiled and recorded properly (if not day 1 of offseason, then whenever that is true.. possibly after arbitration or FA period? no later than immediately following winter meetings? backups will help) in the end you may need to compromise between what you want and what the game can do. try different methods to get what you want... as long as you got a backup, nothing is lost... -- cheaters not being punished properly is definitely a sign of a failing, overly-entitled society... good "preachy" it seems, if so. heck, i just remove teams i don't like.. no reason is needed in a video game. Thanks for the reply. I deleted the team a few days after the playoffs and it seemed to work okay. It moved Houston to the Inactive and kept their history, which is fine by me. I hadn't tried a FA draft, but I can try that in next iteration. The main problem I had was it changed my playoffs to 3 series of best of 7s, which I guess I can just edit that back to normal but I am still wondering why it did that? |

oh, definitely need to re-do schedule.... even if same number of teams, do it to be safe. the matchups might shift... the new team may cause different teamID relative to existing schedule file generated.. not sure if it could cause out of division matchups but will shift something around within a division at the least. The latter is just superficial, at least. |

Exactly. Easily could have make it a generic question.

Pretty sure they were in the playoffs last year too.
