Free Agent Salaries and Negro League Players

Trying to see if I can get any comprehensive help on these two separate but in this case connected items:

Am trying to import negro league players and has been discussed several times - when they come into the game most of them have poor ratings… Now this is not to say they all should be 5 star players and a lot of them would be average ( just as are some of the MILB players are historically) but is it best to import and let them be as they are imported or to hand edit like as has been discussed to get better ratings and I have found in doing this some edited players will still have horrible ratings…..

Item 2 is related to above.. if I import say Oscar Charelston - he comes in with lower ratings - but if I hand edit for best season he moves up to 65 or 70 from 20-25 - but this also has him asking for a salary of 150,000 which is way out of line of the league salary at the moment . Thes FAs will all be put into a FA draft and I am concerned those salary demands will be detrimental to league finances

Is there a way to edit this or will it resolve once they get drafted to fall more in line with league expectations ?

Myself and a couple of the other lads on here are working on a huge project that will hopefully give those interested and willing to put in some effort of their own the ability to create an assortment of NeL players with fairly accurate ratings until the devs figure out the best way for this to happen automatically within the game.

The process to get this to work is not for the faint-hearted, and is currently undergoing some fairly rigorous testing, but fingers crossed we'll be able to proceed with making this public toward the end of the year.

You can see some of the results in progress if you go to my Bucs save, the link for which is in my signature. It is currently in the 1912 season, with a few of the big NeL names strutting their stuff in an integrated MLB. This save is linked to Stats+ so you can dive as deep as you wish to see the NeL players up close and personal, and if you don't want to wait for this project to (hopefully) reach fruition, then you can at least see the sort of ratings I've applied and pick and choose as you see fit.

Not much help for you now, I know, but if you're happy to wait a bit I feel confident it will be worth it.

if you merely edit the Negro League players numbers, they will return to the game database the next year, at least that's what's happened in my tests. What i found worked - was to clone the player, then delete the historical player. The cloned player has a different player ID and when you edit those numbers, the game doesn't return to it's database at the start of a new season.

might not be what you're asking - but i thought i'd toss it out there just in case.

That's exactly the way to handle it. Or, turn recalc OFF. Still the problem remains, however, of how these players import originally. And it is from this that all other problems originate with regard to most NeL players.
