Adding Interleague Play

I have a fictional league with 24 teams (2 leagues, 3 divisions, 4 teams in each division - so 12 teams in each league). I expanded my league by 2 teams to have 26 total, but I added one team to each league. So now I have an odd amount of teams in each league, so I want to add Interleague play so that I don't have a bunch of random off days on the calendar. I went into league settings and Enabled Interleague Play. I then simulated until the Preseason, and when I generate a new schedule it doesn't add Interleague games.

What am I doing wrong? Is my league not structured in a way that this would be allowed?

You're using the in-game scheduler. It doesn't do interleague schedules.

The interleague checkbox is there just to look pretty but has no functionality. It's too difficult or too much work or whatever for them to make it work properly. I don't know the reasoning or excuse. If you want interleague play, you have to hack/mod the game.

Is that new from this year ? I was able to get interleague to work in OOTP21, but I had to use the same format as the MLB. There was a box to tick somewhere to have the league emulate the MLB. Without checking it, the schedules would have random 3 days off spread in the schedule where the interleague games would have been.

Ticking that box AND the interleague box worked, but that wouldn't work for the OP since he has a different setup.

I was never able to get interleague to work with any other setup.

Sure it does. Its function is to make it more difficult for the user to load schedules

Actually, it acts as a check to make sure that the user isn't loading the wrong type of schedule. That's important, because once you move from the preseason to spring training, you can't load a different schedule (any changes from that point forward have to be made in-game). But yeah, it does create some confusion because it looks like the user can check the box and then generate interleague schedules.

I think that might be the one exception to the rule. I've never tried that myself.

Thanks for the responses. So should I uncheck the box and then expand my league my two more teams and even out the leagues next year and give up on ever trying to implement interleague? I'm not skilled enough to do my own schedules or whatever.

I guess my question is, if I leave the Interleague box checked will that screw me up come Spring training, or does it even really matter?

Check the mods forum, there may be a schedule already created that suits your needs or that you can adapt your needs to suit.
