Better Trade A.I.
Ways to actually impact the development of players (have pitching coaches teach an additional pitch for example) Ways to interact as the Manager with my players, and also with my GM to express needs. As the GM be able to interact with players to help impact their play, mood, opinion of the team etc. Make pitcher/catcher chemistry a thing, and allow me to assign specific catchers to pitchers. AI GM's recognize things like team and divisional rivalries. For example: If I'm the Red Sox I shouldnt be able to trade for the Yankees' top prospect. Make OOTP23 about improving the CORE game, and let PT sit on the sidelines for a season.

Mentioned this in the past several times, and I know the developers don't want to follow the Football Manager path but......
Would like to see improvements when it comes to job opportunities. Now you get emails for job opportunities, and it's just a matter of a few clicks, and you have the job. I really like the way FM does it. I usually start my career in a lower league(level 7 or 8 as an example), and try and work my way up to the Premier League as a Manager. I'll take my current club as far as I can, or if I get bored, I'll send out an advertisement, and generally will get some interviews with the Chairman or Director of Football. Questions can be repetitive at times, but it's still a fun experience. And very realistic, as clubs at a much higher level, won't even consider your application. If you're at level 7, you may get some interest from a club at level 6, 5 if your very lucky. Your reputation is one consideration, and of course your past results. With OOTP, start out in the minors as an example, and work your way up. Secondly, and may be asking for too much, but I would like to start out as say a college coach(I know in a sense you can do that now), but actually be able to "recruit" HS players throughout the season, Try and build up a program and win the league title. Of course, would have to use feeder leagues, which I've been doing in my last three solo games and I like playing this way. Something new for me personally. Along the way, you could keep an eye on job opportunities at "The Show" level, or minor leagues, even a foreign league. And again, start the interview process that I mentioned above. When I decided to leave the Angels as GM/MGR I received tons of job offers as the the playoffs continued. Offered contracts from the playoff teams. I was even offered the Dodgers job and they won the W.S. !!! Their manager was manager of the year. Don't like that this is allowed.

A tiny request -
I play out each pitch of each game, in classic 2d mode. Currently, the text pbp immediately disappears after the play finishes. It would be nice to just leave the last play remain available in the text box while waiting for the next play to load up (I maintain 9.5 secs between plays). Currently it feels so abrupt and rushed. Particularly with balls in play or outs it is nice to be able to look at how the AB progressed rather than have everything abruptly erased once the pitch or AB ends. I should add - I play with Pause PbP after each play unchecked. Last edited by oomm; 09-12-2021 at 03:04 PM. |

A way to filter scouting reports in inbox. Or just a better inbox in general, with different tabs in it for scouting reports, negotiation updates, owner messages, etc.
It's incredibly annoying on the weeks leading up to the draft when my inbox is completely flooded daily. Which stinks for a myriad of reasons such as not being able to filter out scouting reports, and the scouting reports all have different subject headline formats so you can't quickly eyeball past them to find which mail isn't a scouting report, and you can miss important negotiation messages and anything else that becomes buried in all that junk. So bit of a cleanup for this part of the UI for some sweet QoL improvements. |

A few related requests: (1) retain full award voting history for past seasons, rather than the list of winners; (2) in the player awards history profiles, go deeper than just top-3 finishes- I suggest listing top 10 for MVP and Cy Young; and (3) compute "award shares" (i.e. the sum of the year-by-year percentages of possible votes for awards like MVP , Cy Young, and Reliever of the Year).
These features will be helpful in analyzing the Hall of Fame candidacies of borderline candidates - for instance, Fred McGriff had 6 top-10 MVP finishes without ever finishing in the top 3. I don't see where there is currently a means of easily tracking this information without manually compiling it. |

I would love to install one of the games updates without it changing every teams stadiums back to the original. It's such a pain to have to go through every team and put the modded stadium back in.

When creating a league you can clear all team names and cities in one key stroke.
like the hockey game have franchise challenges. Example - take over the 1986 Pirates and see if you can win a world series before Barry Bonds leaves in 1993. Take over the 1921 White Sox after 7 of their players were banned for life, see if you can get them to achieve a winning record. |

Data Entry for Negro League players known (seamheads.com) stats so players import based on their performance in that year. So long as the game uses minor league context for NeL players, the engine may mute the stats (to the extent the AB/IP totals don't already) but at least many of the "blank" and incomplete years will be cured and current and potential ratings can grow along a realistic curve. Defense and baserunning comps can be a work in progress but stats are stats be they Rookie Ball or NeL or *** and all players deserve to have their game ID tagged to their known stats.

When my team is trading mode I'd like to see any player who is fragile or wrecked highlighted in orange.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, since there are soo many posts already in this thread. Sorry if this is a repeat.
I would love to see better automated support for Relocating teams, like how we have in the league settings screen for expansion, fantasy draft, etc. It's a pain to have to manually edit a team's settings to move them from Tampa to Montreal or whatever the case may be. It would be amazing if there was an automated option that I could click to initiate relocation. Then choose the MLB or MilB team that I want to move, select/type in a destination city and let the system adjust it from there. There could even be an option for importing, randomizing, or building a new stadium for the team. Plus, if there is already one in the system that matches the coordinates, then we could just select the already established stadium to be our new home. If there is already a way to do this stuff, besides having to manually adjust everything, I would love to hear about it, but I haven't found anything that can do that, as of yet. Hence my suggestion. Cheers |

International Amateur Free Agency is kind of lacking right now. Would be kind of cool if we could trade our allocation of money or something, or the whole system should be revamped. I don't know how completely it could be changed, but I think the signing system needs to be changed.
Because right now, you just see one or two 4-5 star prospects, you offer them a max $5mm contract, they say they have a better offer from another team (How? We can both only give him $5mm), and you can't renegotiate. So you're just S-O-L. Like I had a dude I offered a contract deny signing with me, saying one team had a better offer, but then he turned around and signed with a *different* team than what he originally told me he turned me down for who happen to be in my division, He's now the #1 prospect in the league, and it's like I did I even have a shot? So the AI can negotiate more? What makes these prospects pick certain landing spots, when we can only give so much money? So you end up wasting $5 million bucks each season on like 2 star prospects, when I could maybe trade that money for a reliever, or some more developed prospects.

A few suggestions, not sure any can be implemented but here goes:
- Time of game. A 2021 game lasts average 3 hours. a 1961 game averaged 2 hours 25 minutes (maybe). Earlier games lasted less time. Purely cosmetic...but dealing with time between innings over the years, or even "Average game time" would help - Many HR in pre-1900, and even in the early part of the 1900's, were inside the park HR. Maybe an "Inside the Park HR Pct of all HR" would help anyone trying to simulate this - Minor league financials. Can be toggled on/off, but attendance in minor league ballparks, and anything else (media, merchandise) could be a part of a team's revenue (and expenses); can be implemented at each level separately, so you have the option of using AAA money but not A money |

Full disclosure - I haven't played 22 much so some of this may have been solved. Still play 21 just about daily. Sorry for length but I guess I just have a lot of suggestions...
- With the box office flop story line, please change the movie to something besides Ishtar. Awesome movie. Have you seen it? Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman are hysterical in it, both playing against type. Use, I don't know, Waterworld. No one likes Kevin Costner and that movie hasn't been reclaimed by movie buffs like Ishtar has. - Please let change ups develop. And if a change up doesn't develop, we should have an option to tell a pitcher to never use their crappy 25 rated pitch. I've read that through sim modules people have determined that a pitcher with two 80 pitches and a 25 pitch is better than a pitcher with two 80 pitches. To me, this is preposterous. Realistically that pitch is never, ever being used. And even if it is, the fact that this reliever is noticeably better still doesn't make much sense to me. - Dynamic coaching. Kind of takes me out of it when you see an AI generated coach appear in the available personnel with blue everything despite having zero coaching experience. If they were a recently retired glove-first veteran catcher who played 15 seasons I could understand but... they never are. If players can have dynamic personalities and TCR, can't coaches? Would also be fun if you gave an extension to your awesome coach and he just lost his marbles at some point and torpedoed the team (and vice versa with a cheap coach becoming great). Maybe they could be storylines... like... your coach gets a DUI or criticizes your new young hitter for doing a bat flip or ignoring don't swing sign... team chemistry takes a hit, coach's good relationships fade or his personality changes or criticized player abruptly retires, etc. - I run a custom online league that uses every nation. I have found *so many* players from some Pacific island nation or Jamaica or some other country that is predominantly POC and yet the players that are generated... are white. I can always go in the editor to fix this but it shouldn't happen in the first place. - I'd love for Statcast stuff to be added and be an option to play stats only with. Exit velos, spin rates, o-swing and z-swing, OAA (especially this - would love more fielding stats), xSLG, xBA, etc. Also instead of a player being listed as a groundball hitter you could just have their GB%, LD%, FB%, etc. - It would be awesome if you hosted online leagues on your server instead of just PT. Lots of jumping through hoops to host one. I'm sure people would pay to use it, as I do now with StatsPlus, which is an amazing service. - If a switch hitter has terrible splits we should be able to train them to bat from one side only a la Cedric Mullins. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, worth a shot though. - Adding onto that, does the AI recognize when a switch hitter has terrible splits? I just finished watching a best of 7 series my team was in. My opponent had a switch hitter who dominated righties but was <50 in every metric for hitting lefties. And yet I never brought in a lefty to face him (don't use 3 min batter rule). He went like 12/28 in the series and hit the series ending walkoff homer. I have pitching L/R splits cranked to blue so I was disappointed lefties weren't brought in to face him (wasn't managing obv, just simming for me and my friend so we could watch). If AI doesn't recognize it, that's something to look into. - I don't like how custom league markets are determined by the selections you make in the inaugural draft. My online league didn't realize this at first but the teams who took super old players had astronomical markets/budgets while we (cuz we're so smart) took the good young players and had no money at all. Maybe each team just gets an RNG and you have to draft within whatever parameters you pull. - Several times, without me ever clicking on it, the ratings switch from my head scout to OSA. No clue how this happens as I basically never have any interest in what OSA thinks but it happens constantly. - Would love to be able to pair a catcher with a pitcher like Caratini/Darvish or Perez/Maddux. - Top 30 BNN/OSA prospects list on each team page, including yours, might be cool. It could help you gauge third party rankings of prospects to compare with your own to try and get a steal or lowball in trades without having to go check the pipeline page. It'd also be cool if there were more news about elite prospects in general. Wander Franco getting the call-up was a huge deal but you never get a message saying the #1 prospect made their major league debut. That'd be fun. - I've noticed that guys listed as pitchers who have elite bats or crappy hitters with elite arms are listed as their bad position in amateur drafts. They then fall several rounds and I am able to scoop them up pretty easily. Have the AI catch on to this so I don't get so many steals. - Have a popup before you start the Rule 5 draft if you have someone in DFA. - When you offer some elite FA an 8/40 deal when they want 8/45 and then they instead sign an 8/20 deal with some AI team. This needs to stop imo. - I feel like catcher ability could use some nerfing because as it stands, Austin Hedges is a net positive with runs despite his 50 OPS+ since he will improve you K% and BB% immensely. I also think CA should be able to grow or shrink as a prospect develops. Same with other fielding ratings. I can barely think of any examples of my prospects getting better or worse at fielding (outside of positional fielding growing as they get experience obv). - Tinker with AI voting for awards. I feel like they favor HR/RBI even more than the voters irl. And the CY is also confusing. I've seen guys with 3.5 WAR who don't lead the league in any Triple Crown stat but wind up winning near unanimously. Also like the suggestion of keeping track of a player's award vote tallies and POTGs in their history. - Let us add more than one custom award that we can manually give to players, coaches, or executives. Also allow voting for manager of the year. |

A minor suggestion I have is to put the %win probability somewhere on the modern views when playing games, like in the classic views.
