O this is another thing. The 5 man rotation where some starters get skipped because there is no game schedule that day.
Another coach's point to, maybe a e-mail stating what minor leaguer should not even be in the sport period because they are that bad ( saves roster space ) |

I posted this in my "first impressions" thread, but here it is again: PROBLEM: Rotation is improperly handled after off days. Here's how the computer handled my starters. I have put an asterisk (*) next to problem starts (ie 3 days' rest) APRIL 1: Maddux APRIL 2: Off APRIL 3: Glavine APRIL 4: Millwood APRIL 5: Marquis APRIL 6: Maddux APRIL 7: Glavine* APRIL 8: Millwood* APRIL 9: Marquis* APRIL 10: Lopez APRIL 11: Maddux APRIL 12: Glavine APRIL 13: Millwood APRIL 14: Marquis APRIL 15: Lopez APRIL 16: Maddux APRIL 17: Glavine APRIL 18: OFF APRIL 19: Millwood APRIL 20: Marquis APRIL 21: Maddux APRIL 22: Glavine APRIL 23: Millwood* APRIL 24: Marquis* APRIL 25: Lopez Apparently, there is no routine to check to see if the pitcher has had proper rest. It just goes back to the #1 starter whenever he is available and then goes through the rest of the rotation. Glavine started on April 7th on 3 days' rest after having thrown 118 pitches on April 3rd. It should have jumped to starter #5 on April 7th (Lopez), then gone back to #2 (Glavine) on April 8th. When set to a five-man rotation, the code needs to check for the highest-ordered (1-5) rested starter, and this would be fixed. Right now it appears to only check when the number 5 guy comes up to potentially use the number 1. |

Since I've done a lot of looking and thinking in another thread, perhaps it would be beneficial to compile all the issues I've seen that are not being addressed to date into one place in the patch thread. Here we go:
SUGGESTION FOR A VERY SMALL, YET VERY BENEFICIAL TWEAK: For those of us who like to sim a month at a time, it would be VERY nice to have some sort of sound occur when a sim is interrupted by e-mail/injury/no-hitters in progress/etc and also when the sim is over. When I'm simming a month, I like to minimize and check message boards/play backgammon/etc., but I'd like to still be able to know immediately when the sim was interrupted or ended. (Heck, even just making the little icon flash would be nice.) BUG Calendar still has issues. I re-set the "day year starts on" 2004, but computer doesn't realize that 2004 is a leap year, so dates are still off. MINOR GRAMMATICAL BUG In the team news report, it will say something like "Phil Nevin hits a 451 feet homerun!!" IT should say "451-foot." SUGGESTION The text that is in the game needs to be formatted as such, so that we can copy and paste. I had to re-type the text above. This would be *REALLY* helpful for posting dynasty threads, and of course good dynasty threads help to generate more interest in the game. SUGGESTION I don't know if it is possible, but it would be wonderful if there were hotkeys for simming a day, a week and a month, and use of those hotkeys allowed you to stay on whatever screen you were on. For example, when a SP is injured for 5-10 days, we might just want to juggle the rotation some every day and stay on the pitching rotation screen, simming one day at a time and updating who will start the next game. MINOR BUG Players who are traded in January are listed on their career stats as having played for that team. (Example: I traded for Phil Nevin 1/30/2004, and he is listed that season as having played for two teams. He really only played for one.) BUG/SUGGESTION It has always been an annoyance, particularly during the amateur draft, that a second sort doesn't "remember" the previous sort. For example, when I sort by home run talent, THEN by contact talent, it should list all of the average contact guys lumped together, but they should be secondarily sorted by home run talent. BUG When I look at FA's and guys eligible for the amateur draft, if I select just one position, then only guys who have that as their *primary* position show up. It needs to be that *everyone* who can play that position shows up. If I need a FA LF and there's a guy with a nice bat who has primarily played RF, but has a C range rating at LF, he is very much a viable candidate for a big FA offer from me. Currently I must select the "general" stats and look at the range ratings of the position I want, and then scroll through *every single player* at that position. |

I think this was mentioned in another thread: a compiled list of all players on the Trading Block. It would be much easier than scrolling through the Transactions section of the League News.

I've just got this game yesterday so I'm certainly no expert and these might not be issues but I have noticed a few things for me about the in-game manager AI.
For one thing there's too many 1 out sac bunts by posistion players (non-pitchers) IMO. For instance I noticed against the Cardinals Fernando Vina loves to sac bunt runners to 2nd or runners or runners from 1st and second to 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Again maybe I'm wrong on this and they are bunting for a base hit. But if they are trying to sac bunt with 1 out it's just not a very good strategy IMO. Or else you'd see real life managers doing it. Also I notice the Ai will pinch hit for the pitcher and then have the pinch hitter bunt. Well if he's going to bunt why not just leave the pitcher in and let him try to sac bunt? Seems like you're just wasting a PHer (esp if his sac bunt rating is about equal to the pitcher) And also I haven't noticed the AI manager using the hit and run very much. In real baseball the hit and run is used very often (at least 2 times a game) and even on the higher settings I don't notice the computer manager using the H&R with good contact batters very much if at all. Just some of my thoughts, they could be wrong of course, but I'd like to see the in-game AI manager tweaked a bit. [ March 05, 2002: Message edited by: Dan Lorenzen ]</p> |

I've still had problems with the ticker on the bottom of the standings page. The only way it "works" or moves across the screen is when I click the mouse a bunch of times.
Everything else looks good to me. |

Hi, just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work put in on this game by the developers and everyone else involved. I'd love to see the ability to have managers play their own home games in a good fashion in online leagues. Also, I can't seem to import individual teams from the Lahman database. Has this been addressed.. Have a good one.. Chuck

I am using a solo fictional league with the new patch and I counted maybe 15 trades in 1 season..which is damn good.
Glad to see my ideas are liked YAY.Sorry about spelling, since Friday I slept 9 hours. I am kinda beat. |

Could we have "Browse" options in the usual file maintenance window format to locate the files for import from the Lahman Database or OOTP3 seasons etc ? I have seen this mentioned elsewhere but it is an "annoyance" of mine having to type the whole path name in, although I love the rest of the game otherwise.....

1. it would be great if in a player's history, the players he was traded with/for were listed; currently it seems like only the date and team are listed.
2. Make players more demanding; I went through and adjusted the salaries in my game to reflect reality; many veterans seem willing to sign extensions at lwo rates when in real life, they would take only a one year deal to re-establish themselves and hit it big.. 3. Make teams more cognizant of salaries; players making seven million in Tampa Bay will play, whether they deserve it or not. 4. Free Agency; there seem to be 25 year olds who do not have the requisite 6 years of MLB experience becom

I mentioned this in another post but just in case it was missed...3 inning saves are not being credited....and I too cannot get the news ticker to scroll. It does scroll if I simply run my cursor up and down across the team names from the drop down menu, and even speeds up and slows down if I do...why would that be?

5. Certain players being off-limits unless the team is completely bowled over; at this point only prospects seem to have that status. I realize this is a long list and some of it may not be practical. As much as is viable however, would be greatly appreciated. I never played OOTP before, but I intend to stick with it because its addictive, and there is a viable community and great support for it. I shudder to think of making requests for patches at HHK2 or others.. thanks a lot Markus, Aadik

Player Histories...
Just another chance to suggest going over them and seeing if you can weed out the duplicate comments (having someone hit his first career homerun twice, etc.) ...also adding in more detail about trades

As I mentioned in the suggestions ares, I would love to be able to have players work on their bunting and/or stealing in spring training. Also, for defense, I would like to be able to specify if I want them to fopcus on increasing their range or on their fielding percentage.
Also, for pitchers, I would like have 'movement' listed as a category to work on. Right now, it lists everything but this (stuff, control, velocity). |
