Custom Playoff Structure - Question

Hello,

We are changing league structure next season and our playoffs are changing. We will have 3 divisions in each league (6 divs total). Top 2 in each div make the playoffs.

I want to set it up the custom playoffs so the top 2 divisional records on each side get a bye to round 2. The 3 best division winner plays the worst 2nd place team. And the other 2 2nd place teams play each other. Does anyone know if the “Wildcards Seeded Lowest” checkbox sees the 2nd place teams as “Wildcard Teams”. I want to know if this is possible without having to manually change things every year for the playoffs.

Attached an image on my settings. If anyone has any info that would be great.

Starting in a mid-OOTP 21 patch, the option now seeds the division winners 1-3, the second-place teams 4-6, et cetera. Because the second-place teams qualified by their divisional finish, they are not wild cards.

Thanks for the reply. Based on what you are saying I think my setup should work. As long as the 2nd place teams get seeded lower than a divisional winner regardless of record, that is what I am after.

Thanks,
Michael

yeah, if you want division winners at top regardless of win pct, you want to check box for wildcards to be seeded at bottom.

as long as it is 2 subleagues it should work.

per subleague
6 teams, 2 byes (4 total byes first round needed)

this results in 8 teams making next round and evenly split between 2 subleagues (avoiding interleage play in playoffs is probably important too?). 8 is 2^x value, so all good from there on out.

only 2 byes the first round in total results in more byes needed the next round.

no setting can change these dynamics... it's just required math of context.

once you edit the matchups, you shouldn't have to do it every year... if it is required to do what you want with playoffs. but, you want what is normal as far as who plays whom, so i doubt you have to.

if you want to ignore subleauges as far as playoff matchups, you will need to edit 1 time.

edit: oops, saw the burke post.. yeah that's a problem. but looks like there is a checkbox for that too...
