OOTP22/21 suddenly only show up as background process

Recently, my Steam installations of OOTP22 and OOTP21 have been failing to start. They only show up in the Task Manager as a background process so Steam says they're running but there is no active window.

I've disabled Steam overlay, updated my drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled OOTP and it still won't start as an active process/window.

Was it a recent Windows update? I keep my set to autoupdate.
Was it a recent OOTP update to Steam?

The game still works perfectly on my Mac installation, just not my PC.

Weird. i just finished simming a few games on my PC with steam, and everything worked normally. i also recently updated windows 10 (two days ago), and had a steam update when i started it this morning. ????? Almost sounds like a windows setting messing things, but i have no idea what. Sorry could be of some help.

I have no real idea what to suggest here. Not sure I even recall running into this before.

I'd recommend submitting a support ticket (which you can even do just by emailing support@ootpdevelopments.com) and the support guys can work through some more specific troubleshooting with you to try to figue out what's going on.

I think I figured it out and it's a really niche situation.

Last night I fired up my Macbook Air which has the functioning installation. I started OOTP and it started really quickly and displayed in a much higher resolution than usual.

I suddenly knew what was going on. I often use Steam streaming to play games that are too beefy for my Macbook to run locally.

It must have somehow maintained a streaming connection when I was trying to start up OOTP on my desktop machine and it was running as a background process on my PC but...it was streaming the application to my Macbook.

So it looked like it was running...and it was...just remotely on a Steam connected Macbook.

Well, I still can't get it to run correctly on my PC. I even moved the OOTP installation to a different drive. Still runs as a background app.

Stumped.
