I was having a pretty good season, but since I installed the new patch have lost 5 in row. Must be the patch, right? Suddenly I can't hit, pitch or field. Other than that I'm in great shape.

Unless you're having bizarre statistical changes suddenly I suspect you are seeing regression of your team to their normal performance level.

Just lost 2 more, so now have 7 game losing streak. I'm playing as the Padres, so I seem to be mirroring their real life collapse. Sure is frustrating. This game is too realistic. Maybe I should try sacrificing a live chicken, or better yet, executing one of the players to encourage the others to play like professionals?
I'm playing with owner goals turned on, so my job is on the line here.

Now you're on the right track! I will send a couple guys down to the minors, start some backups, etc. just to feel like I'm doing something. But unless you decide to start a fire sale, stick with your plan and hope things turn around.

Sacrificing a chicken is a non starter. The ootp gods are not so easily appeased. Gotta throw in your firstborn plus a first round pick just to get them to start listening.

Personally I think it's rigged. The AI does really stupid things and loses games for me. And if these players are the same players, then why a different result each season? How TF am I 9 games under .500 with a team of Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth (as a pitcher), Carl Hubbell, Dock Ellis, Tom Glavine, Ken Griffey Jr, Ohtani, Jose Abreu, Carl Furillo and Brooks Robinson!??? I might just go back to my normal gaming. lol

I manage every game (1 pitch mode) so it's either my managerial skills or the patch. (Gotta be the patch.)
Or maybe the baseball gods are telling me it's time to switch to football.

Okay, after 8 straight loses I finally won a game. So now if I can win one out of every nine games I'll be right in the hunt for that coveted #1 draft pick.
