Suggestions for 23

Finished up my annual season early this year. I play each game out in action pitch mode, 162 game schedule.

I didn't win the World Series the first year I played (14 years ago) and had won it ever since. I lost in the first round this year to the damn wild card team and it felt. . . bad.

Anyhow, as I was playing out my games this year, I not only kept track of the results after mound visits (separate thread on that) but also kept notes as to what I'd like to see added for next year's version. Here they are:

~ Trade A.I. should be impacted by the team's status (rebuilding, win now, etc.) with rebuilding teams trying to jettison vets and win nows trying to acquire them. The one-size-fits-all A.I. really doesn't cut it.

~ Option to see detailed current year batting/pitching stats for player with their current team only. It's in the splits, sure, but I'd like to see an option in the tab that has the detailed stats for the current year. Helpful to see how players have done after in-season trades.

~ Stop having the runners in the graphics give the result of the play away. For example, deep fly that looks like it might be a homer but too early to tell. Runners hold - it will be caught. They run - it'll be a homer. On hit-and-runs, they do a Flair Flop as soon as the ball leaves the bat, is in the air and will be caught.

~Add BENCH PLAYER option to player's individual drop-down menu. Too much clicking to get to now.

~When playing out or observing an individual game, we have an option to set all in-game decisions to HUMAN CONTROL. How about an option to set to COMPUTER AI all at once, too?

~ Running tally of Player of the Game awards. I know it's a fairly meaningless stat but it's another stat to track and this is baseball, damnit! Seriously, I think it would have a bit of meaning in that it would show which players tended to excel more on a daily basis.

~When hovering over an at-bat player's name on the game field, have the SPRAY CHART pop up. As it is now, you have to leave the field of play to view it.

1) Tell us what influence mechanics means or remove it
2) Tell us if coach focus matters or remove it
3) tell us if HC/PC relationships now replaces influence or remove it

If you don't mind I've gone ahead and grabbed all of these recommendations and put them on a personal list to review for 23. I'm certain we will have an official thread asking for suggestions later this fall but just in case this thread is lost in the void I'll have those.

Thanks
Alex

I really like the idea about having the trade AI reflect team focus/needs.

Two small suggestions:
-Have the current champion of the leauge you're on listed somewhere on the above part of the screen, like FHM
-Be able to choose rivals (again like FHM)

Been asking for years for POG.
Bottom line everything should be tracked.
Let user decide what is meaningless.
OOTPB should mirror baseball reference with all stats

Any chance you put our suggestions in db format that we everyone can check off, rate, prioritize?

Yes. It ramps up a little more at the deadline, but it's always in the trade valuation (and in deciding which trade offers they discuss in AI-AI deals)

Spray Chart can be seen on field during play - open the Defensive Positioning widget - bottom option in the window - "Show Spray Chart".

If you do this, I’d also suggest hiding the hitter type ratings in favor of making this a bit more dynamic

I’d love to see a “game within the game” involving pitch (heat zones) and spray charts which include pitch types, velocity, location etc..

Probably a huge undertaking, but hey …it’s evolution

Other quick suggestions: the ability to show defensive stats on a players profile's main screen - i know i'd find that it would better help me value players.

Also a strategy option to always leave in a pitcher during a no-hitter or perfect game would be great.

Also maybe either extra custom awards, or add in the Hank Aaron and Comeback Player of the Year awards

One *HUUUUUGE* improvement for me would be to fix whatever causes pitching stats to appear when I click my lineup tab and batting stats to come up on my pitching tab. It's such an annoyance for me, probably more so than it should be, but I can't help that it drives me nuts. Let the choice of view I make in my pitching/lineup tab stay on their respective tab.

Another minor but incredibly annoying thing: When sorting a stat from atop a list, it often sends me to the middle of the list. Happens every time you put in a new filter or do certain things to your view, so you have to scroll all the way back with every change you make.

During Spring Training,
On the Team Display,
On the Players Tab,
On the Overview Sub-Tab,
On the Fielding Stats View

I would like to be able to use the Split or Sub-Split button (they are not there at this time) to be able to identify how many errors were made by which players during spring training.

Somehow I feel that this is a category that might be important - especially for those playing stats only

I must admit…with the trade difficulty on the hardest, a neutral preference between prospects and vets, and AI evaluation at the default 65/20/10/5 or even 55/25/15/5 that trading this year is vastly improved. The AI on these settings won’t trade just for the sake of trading.

Sortable stats at the team level for an entire league

Currently you can only sort stats within a division.
