Live-Start: Retired Players on 40-Man

The Live Start function is sweet and a cool idea, but seems there are some bugs? I have at least 2 guys on my 40-man that are "retired" status and cannot removed (unless I go into commish mode and remove, I assume ... but how many other teams will have this issue in the game? Can't go through every single player and check their status and make sure they're not on 40-man if shouldn't be)

Well now when I live start it looks like they are not there anymore. However I have the past one saved still that I did this with. Two of the guys were (Colorado Rockies):

P Connor Fisk
P Austin Kitchen

Again, I assume there are the same problems on other teams. So I don't know all of the guys (I haven't searched them all). But also again now it hasn't shown up as an issue on the Live Start as of today (7/9/21)

I can second Austin Kitchen for sure, Connor Fisk I believe happened with my live start as well.

I think there were a couple more on some other teams as well but can’t confirm.

I just noticed this today, Michael Baird is another one...

I wonder how many teams have players on their team that are listed as "retired"

It felt weird when I first saw it, I've been using live start since it was put in the game, NEVER had issues like this before.

I'll also note that most of these players aren't actually retired - they should be in the minor leagues.

Very important point.. I feel 99 percent of them aren't retired and should be in the minors.

I also did a test, it's not just live.. it's even the beginning of the season roster set that has them retired.

I wonder how many players there are, I haven't gone through every team.

I haven't really had many problems with OOTP this year.. but for whatever reason, this is the one that's really been bugging me.. it's not even great or even good players/prospects that have this bug.

Also from what I noticed, when starting the game, it's mainly guys that are on the MLB roster.. I'm not sure if it's also players that are in the minors or if it's just guys that the AI has on MLB rosters.

the names I've noticed are

Connor Fisk
Austin Kitchen
Michael Baird all 3 are from the Rockies

other players I noticed are, Jonah Girard from the D-Backs. someone else mentioned Brandyn Sittinger from the D-Backs, but I haven't noticed that also from the D-Backs Jeremy Rhoades is listed as retired. I'm sure there are many others.. I'm not sure if it's only players on the MLB roster or also minor leagues that are listed as retired

if there was a list of players, I would just go through it and unretire them and put them on the roster myself , but I really hope this is looked at soon.

The issue here is that these players start off on the independent leagues in the rosters.

So if you start an MLB only Live start without including the Indy leagues, those players are set as retired in the db, and so load as retired.

For now, start a game including the Indy Leagues and this shouldn't happen. We'll have some fixes in the next patch that should sort this out.

I always include the indy leagues, for some reason it still shows up that way.

Hmm, I guess those guys are getting retired before we load the Indy leagues then.

Either way, the next patch should fix this.

Also, this is off-topic but was Kyler Murray removed from the database, since he decided not to play baseball? In previous OOTP's I could unretire him and see how he would do if he decided to play baseball, but this year he doesn't show up at all

not a big deal, just curious.

He's still in the db, but I think we cleaned up some things this year to not load all the retired players in the db in the game, especially if they don't have any stats.

That makes sense, I've been meaning to ask that for months now lol, I would search him to unretire him and he wouldn't show up.. I figured it was something like that.
