Joe Oeschger
As luckymann noted earlier, Joe Oeschger and his opponent, Leon Cadore, each pitched a complete game in the longest major league game ever (in terms of innings), the 26-inning 1-1 tie between the Boston Braves and the Brooklyn Robins on May 1, 1920.

Frank Welch
On October 1, 1921, Philadelphia A's outfielder Frank Welch became the last person to hit a home run off Babe Ruth in a major league game; the homer was the 10th and last the Babe would ever allow as a pitcher.
Redid the facegen from scratch. Getting closer to the end of that list, luckymann!

Sorry bud, not trying to turn this project into one of Zeno's paradoxes here, but I've got a few more randoms:
Peek-A-Boo Veach (1884-90) Bob A Adams (1931-32) George Stueland (1921-25) And it seems the Cubs have our measure with only a handful of games left in '04 with Waddell and Brown just killing it. Lajoie and the A's looking likely to repeat - make that threepeat - in the AL. Ergo, Class of '05 is not far away! Thanks G

Johnny Mitchell
Per bRef's Bullpen wiki, Johnny Mitchell didn't miss a single time at bat in the minors in 1919 and duplicated the feat again in 1920 until the pennant was won by his club. Or maybe the SABR bio summarizes his career best: "He’d paid his dues along the way and seemed to have a penchant for playing on pennant-winning teams, despite never being a standout on offense."
I avoided the smiling Wikipedia photo and went for the mugshot one instead. I keep trying to nudge the facegen to make it a little more like the photo but I think it is the lack of ears sticking out that is throwing me off. Yeah, I figured 1905's requests were coming up soon, lucky...

Roy Leslie
Roy Leslie was the regular first baseman for the 1922 Philadelphia Phillies, but otherwise played only 19 games in other years in the majors. - bRef wiki
Kept the facegen but colorized it, fixed the large jowls and tried to align better to the bRef photo... |

George Stueland
George Stueland pitched four seasons for the Chicago Cubs (1921-1923 and 1925). In 1922 he went 9-4. After his last stint in the majors, he pitched in the American Association and the Western League. After baseball, he managed a state park and later was a broom maker. Stueland died on September 9, 1964 in Onawa, Iowa, by falling head first and drowning in his luxury duck pond.
I found a straight-on newspaper photo of the team with the players called out and labeled so I was able to get a good view of the head proportions. Thereafter, I adjusted between these two available photos to do the best I could. The texture overlay smoothed out some of the rougher patches from the images. |

1905 FaceGens
Once again, ignore the team notation and apols if some of these are double-ups, it just means they haven’t taken in my save so let me know and I’ll auto-reload them. Been a bit more choosy this time around just to keep things more manageable. Borderlines and guys who won't feature much in-game have been excluded.
Thanks bud G

John Halla
Between stops with the Pittsburg Coal Diggers (of Kansas) and the Sharon Steels (of Pennsylvania), John Halla pitched three games for the 1905 Cleveland Naps, posting an ERA of 2.84. Overall, he had a good minor league career with more than 195 wins, winning 20+ games at least four times.
Straight-forward facegen from the Wikipedia picture, Smoothed away the shadows and closed the mouth. |

Gerry Shea
Gerry Shea was a local St. Louis multi-sport star and veteran of the semi-pro Trolly League and various regional circuits. And in the words of "Grave Story" (ripbaseball.com) which recounts his life, that... "brings us to the 1905 St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards were a 6th-place team, finishing the season with a 58-96 record. It was a veteran team, particularly at the catching position. The top catcher was Mike Grady, who was 35 years old. Other players who saw time behind the plate were Jack Warner (32), Tom Leahy (36) and Dave Zearfoss (37). The team staggered to the end of the season with a doubleheader on September 29 against the Giants, a single game on the 30th, and then doubleheaders on October 1, 3, 7 and 8. That would be enough to exhaust any team, and it could explain why Cardinals management grabbed an extra catcher to help carry the load.
Shea made his major-league debut in the first game of the October 1 doubleheader against the Brooklyn Superbas. The Cardinals won 2-1, and Shea went 1-for-3 with a single off Jack Doscher. In the field, he committed an error and allowed a passed ball, but he also had 6 putouts, 3 assists and took part in a 4-2-3 double play. Two days later, Shea caught the first game of another doubleheader with Brooklyn. Again, he had a single in three at-bats and was flawless with 2 chances in the field. The Cardinals then departed St. Louis to play doubleheaders in Cincinnati and Chicago to close out the season. Shea remained in St. Louis, it seems, and his major-league career ended there." The story has a picture of an older Shea and I used that for the facegen and then I made him younger and benchmarked to the newspaper photo when he was a local football star. No before picture as this one was missing for me. He has a bRef Minor League ID but when he's imported it's not there in the OOTP database so this is saved as the Historical ID which is the next place the game looks for a facegen. |

Gerry, in my Bucs save, was the 80th and last player picked in the 04/05 Rookie Draft, by the Giants. He is yet to see action and seems unlikely to. Oh, and by the way, the '06 Cards in this universe suck hard as well, going 0-12 to start the season.

Deacon Van Buren
Debuting in 1904 at the age of 33, Deacon Van Buren played 1 game for the Brooklyn Superbas, went 1 for 1, and was purchased by the Philadelphia Phillies. He played the rest of his MLB career with the Phils, which lasted an additional 12 games.
"Van Buren is a left-handed batsman, big and fast on his feet and full of ginger." - Sporting Life, May 14, 1904 The facegen I had in my files was too wide and too dark, so I pulled the Wikipedia picture and the bRef picture and redid it. |

Thanks for your incredible work! Just one question. Will these be going in FancySkunk's next release, or are they separate? Lovin' them so far. Haven't seen Henry Owens (owens-001hen, MLB version owenshe01) yet. I think what's in V2.1 is owens-002hen, or owenshe02 if you prefer. I had a Henry_Owens that was around 9 KB, but I was looking at both in game, and they look kind of similar. Still working my way through this thread, downloading these files like Homer Simpson downs donuts. Loving it so far. Thank you, thank you, thank you. |

I'm just gonna leave some guys here that I'm finding in my historical RD that don't have facegens, but look like they may have decent enough pictures for someone with far more expertise than me in this stuff. LansdowneSt seems to be a bit of a miracle worker with this stuff, so you never know right? Right now, some are being given the Bickerson treatment that I mentioned above, and some I'm importing from my OOTP16 fg_files folder. By the way, the Cap Anson in here is glorious.
1) King Bailey (bailey001kin, but game only has MLB ID, which is baileki01, so probably both IDs should be used). 2) John Ake (ake---001joh, or akejo01). 3) Jim Asbell (not being given Bickerson treatment, but ID in game is MLB ID only [asbelji01, so the game may miss it if there's only an MiLB ID number). 4) Shooty Babitt (I have a good one, but I had to import it from my OOTP16 fg_files folder in Shooty_Babitt.fg form...MiLB ID: babitt001mac). 5) Ed Bagley. Can't find a picture of this chap, so he's given the Bickerson treatment in game. (MiLB ID: bagley001ed-). 6) Floyd Baker (had to import from OOTP16 files, and change to MiLB ID, which is baker-002flo) 7) Bobby Balcena (imported from 16, MiLB ID: balcen001rob) 8) Orson Baldwin (absolutely terrifying - a ghost, BB-Ref picture looks awful though, so that probably explains it, MiLB ID: baldwi001ors) 9) Bob Barnes (had to import, MiLB ID [barnes001rob] does not import in the game...It would only recognize barnebo01 at the moment) 10) Edgar Barnhart (game imports with only barnhed01, so it doesn't recognize barnha001edg, and defaults to fictional facegens). He's also ghostly, but the BB-Ref picture is a mess, and very difficult to go on. That's it for now. More later. Tell me if I'm doing this right, or if I should do it some other way. Thanks for all your efforts to all who have worked on these. They're amazing. Last edited by actionjackson; 07-29-2021 at 11:09 PM. |

Had to import Jeff Barry (barry-002jef), and Mike Beard (beard-001mic). Beard was because his file is listed as beard-001mik in your collection, but in game he's beard-001mic. Ok, seriously...That's it for today...Really...I swear.

Thanks for the kind words, action. I'm only sorry that my day job is in high gear at the moment, so I'm falling off my pace a bit
. I hope FancySkunk considers them good enough to add, I came on here, got chatting with folks and just started doing a few and then more. I'm also excited about what silvam14 is trying to do. It's a massive undertaking but as a completist and perfectionist, I don't mind contributing what I can to the community. My facegen file is a mix of a bunch of fg's picked up over the years so I hope I have the ones you have. Worst case, I can do it from scratch or check some of the backup files I have on an external drive. In any case, I shall add the names you listed to my To-do list

Claude Berry
Claude "Admiral" Berry had three cups of coffee in the big leagues but finally became a regular catcher with the Pittsburgh Rebels of the Federal League in 1914 and 1915. He is most famous for introducing the athletic cup to baseball. - BRef Bullpen wiki
Same facegen just colorized and some slight slider movement to align better with the pics. |

Shooty Babitt
Wikipedia says it best:
For his career, Babitt played in 54 major league games in 1981, hitting .256 in 156 at bats. Oakland manager Billy Martin later commented, "If you ever see Shooty Babitt play second base for me again, I want you to Shooty me." For my part, I didn't have a facegen in my game, so made the attached. |
