Schedule question
Forgive me if this posted somewhere (i haven't been able to find it after various searches
I am playing a custom league based on the current MLB setup. I can't figure out how to change the starting date for league play. Right now, I can't get the league to start on any day but April 7th; it should start roughly a week earlier. I really don't want the World Series to extend into November. |

Go to settings options Schedule start date. Only works if you have not started playing games.

Thank you for pointing me to this.
I changed the start date to March 31st and hit the "generate fictional schedule" button. Unfortunately, It's still starting everything on April 7th. Last edited by Hal Wing; 07-21-2021 at 12:50 PM. |

From how I understand it the start date only works for generic schedules created by the AI. If you are trying to use any sort of pre-formatted schedule then the start date will be adhered to as per that schedule. There is possibly a way to go in and edit that but that is about 2,408,798 levels above my skillset...

Also, since the in-game scheduler can't handle interleague play or unbalanced schedules, the game probably assigns a schedule that matches your league settings from the files in the schedule folder. In other words, because you're playing with an MLB setup, the game might be using an MLB schedule. There's an entry on the Options page under League Settings that says "Schedule loaded from file." If there's a file name next to that, then you're using one of the game's existing schedules. If that's the case, you'd need to go into the schedule file itself and change the start date.

make sure "force start on" a certain day is not set.. this will give you a 7 day range of possible start days if it is set and enabled.
Also, check the box tht says automatically adjust date of existing schedules that match. It's possible it is finding a schedule that works, but thta schedule has a "Start day=" paramater in the header of the schedule file. specific day is 1-7 = sun - sat. alternative -- Go locate that schedule file. Either remove or adjust "start day /month" etc... (online manual explains this and gives the options you can use, can also monkey see monkey do once you open the file to see the format to follow) "save as" and add a _C_league_name -- this can force it to be used for any league named 'league name' My leagues don't have spaces in them, so maybe an underscore is needed or not... easy fix if not. Fairly sure partial matches work, cause my "_C_MLB.lsdl" files typically load for any league i create tht starts "MLB...." if i recall. can also rotate through multiple ones... "blahblah file name_C_MLB_A.lsdl" or C_MLB_B.lsdl or, 1,2,3.. it'll go in order through the files named this way. if just 1 file, it'll jumble the matchups each year.. but if rotating, it'll be whatever teh file says each time.. no jumbling. e.g. i use an A/B file rotation, but the files are exactly the same to avoid the jumbling of schedules on purpose. |

The good news is that everything works now. I actually tried several different suggestions and was able to get the schedule to work using all of them. I''m experimenting with NoOne's description for some other league structures I'm creating.
This forum is great. Thanks again, everyone! ![]()
