Is a nice feature but has just been a liability for much of FHM7's lifespan. It seems to have been finally fixed in historical mode but if you play a Standard game and get to the Winter Olympics you can still end up with a bricked save. Now, Standard is the only mode that seems to have actual effort put into it. It also proves that drafts years in advance have been researched, and that sheer laziness is the only reason Class of 2021+ prospects don't appear in historical mode. It also has tons of leagues, AHL, ECHL, OHL, WHL, NCAA DI. However, the aforementioned bug can come back to ruin all the fun and force you to start another painfully slow-loading save.

The load time is longer (there'll be a delay at 62%) during Olympic years, but it certainly doesn't break the save.

As for "sheer laziness": yes, clearly, after rating and re-rating thousands of historical players, I've suddenly become lazy. Or maybe there are valid reasons for witching historical mode to fictional player generation after the final current year, which I might be willing to explain if asked with any semblance of civility.
