Rookies accruing service time while on Injury List

Wondering it what OOTP allows is within MLB rules and what people think is ethical.

Assume a rookie player, first year in MLB. He plays April May June and gets a 12 month injury. OOTP requires he go to the injured list.

While on the injured list service time accrues and he is paid MLB minimum salary. When he comes back in 12 months he will have a year and three months service time and collected MLB minimum salary for a year and a half.

However after the injury list time has expired (15 or 60 days) OOTP allows him to be optioned to the minors. In that case he'll be paid 16.5% of MLB minimum salary and not accrue service time. However that would burn two option years.

Some OOTP players might be OK burning two option years for the money savings and service time savings. I've never done this as I just recently realized its possible.

So, is assigning an injured player after he comes of the injured list to AAA OK with MLB rules and its it ethical?

We should probably limit that. There are some specific cases in MLB where injured players can be optioned, but it seems that that's mostly related to spring injuries for players who weren't on the active roster the previous year. Whether that means you shouldn't do that, it's up to you.

This is a similar issue I have. I have a player on the 40 man roster playing in the minors. He gets hurt and put on the 10 day IL (or 60). When I can activate him my only choice is to add him to the 25 man roster. So I have to send someone down, activate the player, send him down, and call up the other player.
